Kulasekhara Azhwar's Perumal Thirumozhi

Kulasekara Aazhwar of 8 th cent AD was a king by birth, who took up the reins of Chera kingdom[Kerala] after his father's demise. He was also seeped with bhakthi with special fondness to Rama. This Vaishnavaite saint has sung 105 hymns.Of which some are as follows.

In 30 hymns 647-676]Kulasekara Azhwar has poured out his longings to serve Sri Ranganathar and his devotees, his impatience at being fettered to do so whole heartedly ,by the onerous duties of the state.

Irruliriya.

**647.Irruliriya sudarmanigal immaikum netri, innathuthi yanipanam ayiramkalarandhu aravarasa
perunjothi anathyennum annivilangum uyir vellai yannayai mevi thiruvarangap perunagar thenner ponni thirakaiyaal adivaruda ,
palli kollum karumaniyai komalathai kandu kondu yen kannimaigal yendru kolokallikum naale'?

meaning.

The forehead ,dazzling with bright gems pierces and shatters the darkness,
Reclining on the 1000 hooded luminous Anantha with thiru Namum [u like mark ---onVaishnavaites forehead] etched in all of them,
Like a beautiful blue sapphire ,
Is SriRanganathar , whose feet is stroked by the sacred waters of Ponni [ R. cauvery]
When will my eyes starved of such a sacred sight be satiated?

**651.Matchless melodious music of veena ,is played with great pleasure by Narada and other Munivars.
All the 4 Vedas are recited without a pause by the four faced Brahma,
Who bows down before Manivanna-- [One who bears the hue of a sappire],
Who is reclining at SriRangam temple .
Which is that day when my head free of the crown and is adorned only with flowers ,will bow down at his feet?
