Kuil pathu---Koel's ten---Naachiar Thirumozhi.

Andal the only woman Vaishnavaite saint's Thirupavai is well known.She has also sung several hymns that exhibit her yearning to merge with Narayana at the earliest.They are compiled under Naachiar Thirumozhi.

In the 10 verses under the heading 'kuil pathu'---koels 10 songs , Andal pleads and threatens the koel alternativly to take her message, of acute longing to Narayana.

MAnnuperum pughazh Madhvan mamani vannan manimudi maindhan,thanai uganda karanamaga

Yen sangirzhakum vazhakuunde punnai kurukathi nazhal vazhum kuile,panniya podhu migundu viraindu

Yen pavalavayanvar koovaai!.............................................................545.

Meaning,

O koel who lives in gardens !Madhavan ,who is of great fame and is sapphire hued ,

And has tresses that shimmer like precious gems and has a mouth as red as corals,

Is the object of my desire.

This longing for him has emaciated me so ,that my bangles are slipping and falling down to the ground,

O koels , who live in the hollow of trees in the groves of Punnai, Kongu and Kurukathi coo and call aloud the sacred names of my Lord urging him to come to me at the earliest!

**After drinking the honey flowing out of Shenbhaga flowers and bursting into rhapsody , out of sheer ecstasy,

O koels for my sake coo in your delightful childish lisps and call my lord who is standing at Thirumalai!........................ [546.]

**O koel living with your lover in gardens where the best of flowers grow and spread their fragrance ,

And where colourful bees hum and sing , Call my lord who bears the colour of blue sapphire!.... [547.]

**O young koel that nestles in naturally beautiful alcoves in gardens and groves ,where bunches of flowers bloom ,Coo aloud and call my Swami.........................550.

**young and small koel that pecks at the tender red shoots of honey like mango fruits growing on trees in lush groves ,Coo aloud and call my Bhagwan who is far away to come thither!..........552.

**O koel you will lose your place in the groves where bees drunk on nectar hum and sing , if you do not call out to my Bhagwan, to hasten to reach this place.! ....................553.
