SriRangam-----Thirumozhi--[-402---442]

Periyaazhwar describes SriRangam and praises Sriranga - Vishnu- enshrined in the temple in 40 verses. To Vaishnavaites 'temple' means only Srirangam temple .Its importance is second only to Vaikuntam ---the permanent abode of Vishnu!

The following lines from hymns are the poetic description of SriRangam.

Thazhaimada loodirinjith thavala vanna podi anindhu ,
Yazzhinisai vandinangal aallam vaikum Arangame'---------407

Bees draw nectar from fragrant flowers and then roll in them ,adorning themselves with colourful powders of the flowers!

Their humming that is sweeter than the melodious strains of the veena ,resonates in SriRangam!

Thazhuppu ariya sandanangal tadavaravaieerthu kondu ,Thezhuippudaiya kaveri vandhadi thozhum seer Arangame!--------------408

The scented waters of Cauvery, that drag sandal trees from the hills, wash and worship the feet of my lord at SriRangam!

Yelliam podhu irrunsirai vandu emperuman kunam padi malligai ven sangudhum madhil Arangam enbhade'!-----------409

At dusk bees sing the qualities of my Bhagwaan ,in tune with the sound of conches as white as jasmine flowers , that are blown in the precincts of SriRangam !
