Thirumizhsai Aazhwar's hymn in praise of ulagalandaperumal --Thiru ooragam at Kanchipuram


Thirumizhsai Aazhwar one of the 12 revered Vaishnavaite saint has sung 120 hymns compiled under the tittle Thiruchanda vrittam.He is contemporary of the early three aazhwars. Dated at 5 th cent AD.

The following hymn is in praise of Vishnu enshrined in Ullagaallanda perumal koil.

Nanrirundu yoganeedhi nanuvargal sindaiyul,
sendrirundha theevinaigal theertha devadevane'!
kundrirundu maadanedu padagathum ooragathum,
nindri irundu vekannai kidandu yenna neermaye'!.......................[814]

Meaning.

Leader of Deva's ! One who enters the thoughts of those who practise the yoga of meditation,

And extinguishes the results of evil deeds!

Isn't it your kindness that you chose to reside in the place that has houses as tall as peaks,
