Naachiar Thirumozhi--9 [587-596] Sindhoora sempodi!

Red Sindhoor powder.

These 10 hymns describe the beauty of Thirumalancholai and are in praise of AazhagarPerumal[Vishnu],enshrined within the temple .This temple is near Madurai and the moolavar ---deity within, is second only to Srinivasa Perumal in majesty and beauty.

Some of these hymns of Andal are as follows---

587.Sindhora sempodi pol thirumaliruncholai yengum ,indira khopangale yezhundum parandittanavaal,
mandharam naati andru madurak khozhun charu konda sundara tholudaiyaan chozhalayil nindru uithang kolo'?

meaning,

As far as the eye can see ,butterflies as red as Sindhoor powder have spread and are flitting above and around Thirumalincholai!
In days gone by a mountain was used to churn the ocean ,out of which arose the nectar like ,sweet and pure Lakshmi!,
By the handsome and broad shouldered 'One' enshrined in here.
Can any one escape his charming web?

**591.Thunga malar pozhil choozh solai nindra sengkan karumugilan thiruvurupol malarmel thongia vandinangal,
thogu poonch kanaikaal !soonaiyil thangu senthamaraikaal! yennekor saran satrumeeno'!

Gardens of bright flowers growing in bunches surround Thirumalincholai.
Where in stands the 'One' with red eyes and sacred form that is dark and benevolent like rain bearing clouds,
Whose beauty is rivaled by bees dangling from flowers,
By springs and ponds at every corner ,
By red lotuses residing in these springs,
Can you all deign to give me some refuge?

**592.To my lord who is residing in Thirumalancholai temple that is surrounded by scented gardens and fragrant groves on all sides,
I offered to spread 100 measures of butter by word of my mouth,
I have promised 100 measures of Akkaravadichal---rice payasam,
My swami,One who is gaining more and more fame as days go by,
Come now and take possession of my offerings!

**594.Flocks of dark hued sparrows arise in the dawn and announce the arrival of Thirumal by their songs!
Are they also announcing the arrival of Dwaraka pathi ?Who grew on a leaf and is enshrined in these lush and green hills as My lord!
Is it true? Has he truly arrived?
