My English translation is based on the Tamil translation of Sri Desikans sanskrit slokas by Navaneeta Rama Desikachariar swamy from his book Sri Desika sthotramala.

Thanian--Ramanujadayapathram gyanavairagya bhushanam|
Srimath Vengkatanatharyam vande Vedantha Desikam||
Meaning--I bow with folded hands to Sri Vedanta Desikan who wears knowledge and ascetism as his ornaments,
He has the blessings of Ramanujar,
He is the avatar Sri Venkatesvara-[Desikan is said to be the avatar of the Bell at Tirumala temple of Lord Venkatesvara]

Jayath yaachridha santhrasa twaanth vidhvam sanodhaya
prabhavaan seethaya devya paramavyoma bhaskara|
He rose in this world to destroy fear of his devotees ,
Sita devi heightens brilliance of Rama who is like a sun to the brilliantly lit sphere known as Vaikuntum ,
Rama is above all.

Balakandam
**3 தேவாஸூர சமர சமய சமுதித நிகில நிர்ஜர நிர்த்தாரித நிரவதிக மஹாத்ம்ய !
.Devasur samar samay samudhitha nikhila nirjara nirdharith niravadhik mahathmaya
My Bhagwan, Narayana,in the war between Devas and Asuras , helped Devas by defeating all Asuras.
and all the Devas then recognised and concluded that His merits are infinite.
**4 தசவதந தமித தைவத பரிஷதப்யர்த்தித தாசரதி பாவ !
.Dasavadhana dhamita daivath parishadhabyathirth dasharathi bhava|
Oh Narayana!In answer to the prayers of Devas who were tortured by ten headed Ravana ,
You were born as son to Dasaratha .
5--திநகர குல கமல திவாகர !
.Dhinakar kula kamal diwakar|
The rising sun makes all the lotuses in the world to bloom.You have taken birth in Surya clan which helps and pleases the world like a lotus.You are like the respledent sun to this clan and have made it bloom.
**6.திவிஷததிபதி ரண ஸஹசரண சதுர தசரத சரம ருண விமோசந !
.Diwishadathi pathi rana sahasarana chathura dasaradha saramaruna vimosana|
One who repaid the last debt owed by the able Dasaratha .who had once helped Indra the leaders of Devas in his wars against Asuras.
Expla-- Dasartaha was a skilled charioteer who could drive it in all directions including Deva loka .
In the wars with Asuras Indra often faced defeat .At such times Dasratha helped him to win the wars and thus repaid the his first debts toRishi's who could thenceforward pursue their Vedic studies in peace and the second debt to Devas who could perfom yagas without any obstacles.The third and last debt --owed to Pitrus was fulfilled by Narayana who took avatar of Rama who was born as his son and who by his birth repaid this debt.
** 7. கோஸலஸூத குமாரபாவ கஞ்சுகித காரணாகார !
.Kosala sudha kumarabhava kanchugidha karannakara!
By taking birth as son of Kausalya the fact that You -Narayana are the original cause of the universe was eclipsed .
Expl-Since Rama was born out of Kausalya's womb and grew like any other human child many a person's didnot understand that Rama was in reality the original cause of this universe viz Narayana.
**8 கௌமார கேளி கோபாயித கௌசிகாத்வர!
. Kaumara kelli ghopayitha kausikathvara,
One who found it a child's play to protect Viswamitra's yagnas from the onslaught of Asuras.
Expla--Viswamitra muni performed several yagnas many of which he couldn't complete owing to disturbances from Asuras .At his request Dasaratha sent his young sons Rama and Lakhmana who killed all Asuras effortlessly and made it possible for the Muni to complete his yagnas peacefully thus enabling him to take the Avapradha or ritual bath signifying the successful completion of yagnas.
**9 ரணத்வர துர்ய பவ்ய திவ்யாஸ்த்ர ப்ருந்த வந்தித !
Ranathwara thurya bhavya divyasthar prindha vandhitha.
One who was paid obsience by group of astras on completion of their duties in wars that Rama, You conducted like yagnas
Expla--Viswamitra bestowed several asthras onRrama .These asthras were in forefront in winning the wars that Rama conducted as per just rules .Hence these wars were like yagnas .After completing their duties these powerful asthras bowed humbly before Rama.
**10--ப்ரணத ஐந விமத விமதந துர்லளித தோர்லளித !
.
.Pranadha jana vimadha vimadhana thurlalitha thorlalitha ,
Strong shouldered destroyer of enemies of devotees.
**11--தநுதர விசிக விதாடந விகடித விசராரு சாராரு தாடகா தாடகேய !
.Thanudhara visika vidhatana vikaditha visharu sarau thataka thatakeya
With a very small arrow you slayed Thataka and weakened her sons who,having no challengers till then had wreaked havoc and terror on all people of this country.
**12 -- ஜடகிரண சகலதர நட பதி மகுடதட நடநபடு விபுதஸரித் அதிபஹுள மதுகளந லளி தபத நளி நரஜ உபம்ருதித நிஜவ்ருஜிந ஜஹதுபல தனுருசிர பரமமுநி வரயுவதி நுத !
Jadakirana sakaladharajatila nadapathi magudathada nadanaba vibhuthasrith adhibahula madhukalana lalithabada nalli naraja
ubhamruthitha nijavrujina jahadhupala dhanurusi ra paramamuni varayuvathi nudha
Siva the dancer par excellence who adorns his matted locks with a small slice of the moon whose rays are cool , is bearing in his matted head Devi Ganga who appears to have risen from the flood of honey flowing from Narayana's sacred lotus feet ,
The lotus feet that gave birth to Ganga also scraped on the stone that Ahalya had been turned into by the curse of Gautama muni and released her from the curse and also from her sins and made her regain her youth, making her praise You.
** 13--குசிக ஸூத கதித விதித நவ விவித கத !
.Kushi ka soodha kathida vidhitha nava vividha kadha
You listened very eagerly to the stories related by Viswamitra.Stories which You had not heard earlier.
Expl---In order to divert Rama and Lakshmana in the long and arduos walk to his hermitage, Viswamitra related several stories and events from history .Thus he related the history of Manmada, Vamana, Subramaniya, Thataka,Sagaraputhiras, anscetors and of Janaka's bow,
**14 --மைதில நகர ஸு லோசநா சகோர சந்த்ர !
.Mithila nagara sulochana losana sagora chandra
You were a feast to the doe eyed damsels of Mithila in the manner the chakora birds feast on rays of the moon .
Expla --Moon rays are the only form of food for Chakora birds .
**15--கண்ட பரசு கோதண்ட ப்ரகாண்ட கண்டந சௌவுண்ட புஜதண்ட !
.Kanda parasu kothanda prakanda kandana sounda bhujadhanda
Whose strong shoulders ,is capable of breaking Siva's bow.
Expla --Rama broke Siva Dhanush to marry Sita.
**16 --சண்டகர கிரணமண்டல போதித புண்டரீக வந ருசி லுண்டாக லோசந !
.Sandakara kiranamandala bhodhita pundariga vanarusi lundaga losana!
Your eyes are as bewitching as the beauty of clumps of lotuses that have bloomed in the harsh rays of the sun .
**17--மோசித ஜநக ஹ்ருதய சங்காதங்க !
.Mochita janaka hridaya sangadhanga .
One who removed the anxiety in Janaka's heart.
Expla -By lifting and breaking the strong bow ,the condition set in Sita's swayamwara , Rama dispelled the anxieties of Janaka on finding a good groom for his daughter Sita'
*18---பரிஹ்ருத நிகில நரபதி வரண ஜநகதுஹித்ரு குச தட விஹரண ஸமுசித கரதல !
.Parihrudha nikhila narabhadhi varana janaka thuhithru kusa thada viharana samuchita karadhala
One who scotched the desires of many a rulers by winning for Himself the sole possession of Sita in
marriage .
**19--சதகோடி சதகுண கடிந பரசு தர முநிவர கர த்ருத துரவநமதம நிஜ தநுராகாஷண ப்ரகாசித்த பாரமேஷ்ட்ட்ய !
.Satha kodi sadhaguna kadina parasu dhra mun ivara kara drudha dhurava namadhama nija dhanuraga kshana prasidha parameshtaiya
When the axe wielding rishi Prasurama accosted you on the way back from Mithila to Ayodhya and challenged you to string the bow which was a gift of Mahavishnu and was 100 times stronger than Indra's vajrayudham [mace] , you lifted it and left arrows effortlessly thus proving to the world your true nature that of being the Paramatma .Thus You revealed to this world Your true self that You Rama was none other than Naryana Himself.
20** க்ரதுஹர சிகரி கந்துக விஹ்ருத்யுந்முக ஜகதருந்துத ஜிதஹரி தந்தி தந்த தந்துர தசவதந தமந குசல தசசதபுஜ முக ந்ருபதிகுல ருதிரஜர பரித ப்ருது தர தடாக தர்ப்பித பித்ருக ப்ருகுபதி ஸுகதி விஹதி கர நத பருடிஷூ பரிக!.
Kridhuhara sigari kandhuka vihruthyunmuga jagathrundhudha jithahari thanthi thantha
thanthura dasavadhana thaman kusala dasa sadabhuja mukhanru padhikula ruthirajara preetha prudhu thara thataka tharpitha pitruga prukupathi sookathi vihathi karanadha paridishu pariga .
Ravana who attempted to roll Kailash the residence of One [Siva] who had destroyed Daksha , into a ball and to play with it , who caused great misery to people of this world, and whose body bore the scars of numerous wounds inflicted by Aiyravat's tusks in battles with Indra , was however subjugated by the 100 armed Kartha veerya..
Parasurama who was enraged by the murder of his father by Karthaveera, not only killed him but also killed several generations of kings and , filled a tank with their blood in which he performed tarpana[rituals] for his father and pitrus .
Parasurama became furious at Rama for lifting and breaking Siva's bow and he challenged Rama to string Vishnu's bow . Rama strung it and sent a bolt of arrows that made the restless rishi ,Parasurama lingering for aeons in this world to forfeit all the good merits of his penances

{ அயோத்யா காண்டம் }
Ayodhya kandam.
**21----அந்ருத பய முஷித ஹ்ருதய பித்ரு வசந பாலந ப்ரதிஜ்ஞாவஜ்ஞாத யௌவராஜ்ய !
.Annrudha bhaya mushitha hridhjya pitru vasana balana preetij gyavajgyadha yavrajya
Rama Your father was fearful of the stain of falsehood .Since You promised to obey his orders You set aside Your princely claim to the crown.
Expla--Dasaratha was scared of disrepute to his name if his promise to Kaikeyi was not fulfilled .He bade Rama to go the forest ,who obeyed that order and let go of His claim to the throne.
**22--நிஷாத ராஜ ஸௌஹ்ருத ஸுசித ஸௌசீல்ய ஸாகர !
.nishada raja sauhridha soochitha sauseelya sagara .
Your friendship with hunters leader Guhan shows that Your nature of moving with persons of all stations,on a equal footing is as wide as a ocean ..
Expl--Sausiliam means -Highly placed persons moving with persons who are of very humble origin without any difference.
**23--பரத்வாஜ சாஸந பரிக்ருஹீத விசித்ர சித்ரகூட கிரி கடக தட ரம்யா வஸத!
.Bharadwaja sasana parikru heedha vichitra chitra koda giri kadaka thada ramya vasana
You took the guidance of Bhardwaj muni and built a pleasant dwelling at the foothills of Chitrakoot hills.
Expl--Rama crossed Ganga with help of Guhan and reached Bhardwaj ashram and obeyed that Rishi's directions.
**24--அநந்ய சாஸநீய !
.Annaniya sasaneeya.
One who cannot be ordered by others.
Expla--When Bharata beseeched and several rishis like Vasishta, Jabali and others ordered Rama to return to Ayodhya , Rama laid out his views clearly and, politely turned down their pleas and commands and adhered to his resolve to live in the forest for 14 years.
**25--ப்ரணத பரத மகுடதட ஸுகடித பாதுகாக்ர்யாபிஷேக நிர்வர்த்தித ஸர்வலோக யோகக்ஷேம !
.Pranadha bharadha magudathada sokadidha padukakarya bhisheka nirvarthidha sarvaloka yogakshema.
Rama the well wisher of all!When Bharata surrendered himself, You allowed him to take your sandals .
Bharata then coronated the sandals and placed it on the throne at Ayodhya and then administered the empire very well on Your behalf.
**26--பிசித ருசி விஹித துரித வலமதந தநய பலிபுகநுகதி ஸரபஸ சயந த்ருண ஸகல பரிபதந பய சகித ஸகல ஸூரமுநி வர பஹுமத மஹா ஸ்த்ர ஸாமர்த்த்ய !
26.Pisidha rusi vihidha dhuridha valamadhana dhanaya bhali puga nukadhi
soorabhasa sayana trunna sakala paribhadhana bhaya sakhitha sakala
sooramuni vara bhahumadha mahastra samarthya
One who as the strength of Bramhastra !You infused the power of Bramhastra in a minute particle and sent it against the crow the son of Indra that had bit Sita to satiate its hunger for flesh ,terrifying it and stunning Devas and Munis by its speed , and making them praiseYour abilities.
**27-- த்ருஹிண ஹர வலமதந துராரக்ஷ சர லக்ஷ !
.Truhina hara valamadhana dhuraraksha saralaksha!
One with perfect aim ! Even Brahma ,Indra and Siva are incapable of distracting the arrows sent by You!
{ ஆரண்ய காண்டம் }
Aranya kaandam.
**28--தண்டக தபோவந ஜங்கம பாரிஜாத !
.Dhandaka thapovana jungama parijatha .
One who was like a mobile Parijatha tree in Dandakaranya tapovan.
Expla-- In his stay in Dandakaranya forest the Rishis who were doing severe penances in that forest welcomed the protection he gave them from disturbances caused to their meditations and yagas by Asuras .His regular beat around the forest was like as if the boon giving Prarijatha tree, a celestial tree had descended down to the earth.
**29-- விராத ஹரிண சார்த்தூல !
.Viraadha harina charthula.
One who was like a tiger to the deer, Viradha
.
Expla--Viradha the Asura who was troubling the Rishis, lifted Sita .Enraged at this,Rama slayed him as easily like a tiger would kill a deer.
Note .Virada was a Ghandarva known as Thumburu .He was released of his curse on being slayed by Rama He then,assumed his true form and reached Deva loka.
**30--- விலுளித பஹுபல மக கலம ரஜநிசர ம்ருக ம்ருகயாரம்ப ஸம்ப்ருத சீரப்ருதநுரோத !
.Vilulidha bhahubhala maga kalma rajnisara mriga mrigaya rambha samprudha seeraprudhanurodha
Like hunting wild animals that destroys crops You slayed Asuras who were spoiling the yagnas conducted for the benefit of of the entire world by. Rishis clad in barks, and thus supported their good deeds.
**31--த்ரிசிர : சிரஸ் த்ரிதய திமிர நிராஸ வாஸர கர !
.Trisira siras tridhya thimira nirasa vasarghara .
By beheading all the three heads of the Asura Trisiras You are like the sun that dispels thick darkness.
**32--தூஷண ஜலநிதி சோஷண தோஷிதா ருஷி கண கோஷித விஜய கோஷான !
.Dooshana jalanidhi soshana dhoshidha rushi kana goshitha vijaya ghoshana.
You slayed the Asura Doshana .It was like draining a sea of all its water.
Rishis who were happy at the removal of this constant trouble maker proclaimed your victory to the world.
**33---கரதர கர தரு கண்டந சண்ட பவந !
33.Karadhra kara tharu kandadha sanda bhavana .
You slayed the cruel asura Kara like a huge gust of wind felling down a tree .
**34--த்விஸப்த ரக்ஷ : சஹஸ்ர நள வந விலோலந மஹா கல்ப !
.Twispatha raksha : sahasra nalla vana vilolana mahakalapa
One who annihilated 14,000 Rakshas as effortlessly as a huge elephant trampling and destroying coarse grass lands within seconds.
**35--அஸஹாய சூர!
.Asayhaya soora!
Great warrior ! Who doesnot need any one's support to attain victory.
**36- அநபாய ஸாஹஸ !
.Anabhaya sahasa!
One who is full of brave /bold deeds without any maleovent intention.
**37---மஹித மஹாம்ருத தர்சந முதித மைதிலீ த்ருடதர பரிரம்பண விபவ விரோபித விகட வீரவர்ண !
.Mahidha mahamrudha drasana mudhitah mythili trudadhara parirambana vibhava viribhitaha vikata veravrana
Sita , who witnessed Your victories over Asuras, a feat hailed by all , embraced You, Rama with pride and this was like a balm to the wounds inflicted on You by asuras.
**38 மாரீச மாயா ம்ருக சர்ம பரிகர்மித நிர்ப்பர தர்ப்பாஸ் தரண !
Mareecha maya mriga sarma parikarmidha darbhas tharana.
One whose seat made of Dharbha grass was adorned by the skin of the deceitful Mareecha who had assumed the form of a deer.
**39---விக்ரம யசோ லாப விக்ரீத ஜீவித க்ருத்ரராஜ தேஹ திதக்ஷ லக்ஷிதா பக்தஜந தாக்ஷிண்ய !
39.Vikrama yaso labha vikreedha jeevitha krithra raja deha didhiksha lakshadhi bhakthajana dakshinya
Jatayu lost its life after putting up a brave fight with Ravana .By cremating Jatayu's body , Rama displayed the deep attachment he has towards his devotees.
**40---கல்பித விபுத பாவ கபந்தாபிநந்தித !
40.Kalpidha vibhutah bhava kapandha bhinandita !
One who was hailed by Kabhanda the Deva turned Asura.
Expla--Kabhanda was a Deva whose face got buried deep into his chest owing to a blow from Indra's Vajrayudhum as a punishment for a crime committed by him.
Kabhandha was then cursed by the rishi Sthoolasiras to become a Asura .Rama in his search for Sita , on being challenged by this asura ,slayed him and then burnt him in pit.The Deva regained his beautiful form and ascended to the Deva loka, hailing Rama and advised him to seek the help of Sugriva' in finding and rescuing Sita .
**41-----அவந்த்ய மஹிம முநிஜந பஜந முஷித ஹ்ருதய கலுக்ஷ சபரீ மோக்ஷ ஸாக்ஷிபூத !
Avvanthya mahima munijana bhajana mushitha hridya kaluksha sabari moksha sakshi boodha .
Due to her constant services to Muni's of praise worthy qualities all the stains and confusions were removed from Sabhari's heart .She welcomed You with touching hospitality.
Rama ! You granted Sabhari Moksham and witnessed her ascent to Moksham!
{கிஷ்கிந்தா காண்டம் }
Kishkindha kaandam.
**42----ப்ரபஞ்சந தநய பாவுக பாஷித ரஞ்ஜித ஹ்ருதய !
.Prapangjana thanaya bhavuka bhashidha ranjitha hridaya.
One whose heart was gladdened by the pleasing speech of Vayuputra --Hanuman.
**43.--தரணி ஸூ த சரணாகதி பரதந்த்ரீக்ருத ஸ்வாதந்தர்ய !
Dharani soodha saranagathi paranthreekrutha swathanthrya !
Though being Lord of Universe ,One who surrendered his independance in all humility, when seeking the support of Sugriva to rescue Sita from Ravana.
**44---த்ருட கடித கைலாச கோடி விகட துந்துபி கங்காள கூட தூர விகேஷப தக்ஷ தக்ஷிணேதர பாதாங் குஷ்ட்ட தர சலந விச்வஸ்த ஸூஹ்ருதாசய !
.Thrudha kaditha kodi vikata thundubhi kangala kooda dhoora viksheba thaksha dakshinedhara padaang kushta thara salana visvasth soohrudasya !
One who inspired the trust and hope of his friend Sugriva in His ability by making the huge pile of bones of the asura Dhundhubi , whose body had been like several peaks of Kailash strung together tightly to fall at a distant place, by merely prodding the heap with His left toe!
Expla--Dundhubhi was a gigantic asura slayed by Vali. In order to inspire faith in Sugrivan in his strength and ability to tackle Vali ,Rama made the huge piles of bones of this asura who was once slayed by Vali ,to fall at a distant place by mere flick of his toe.A feat no other human being could have done and thus dispelled fears in Sugrivan's heart regarding Rama's ability to defeat vali.
**45---அதிப்ருதுல பஹு விடபி கிரி தரணி விவர யுகபதுதய விவ்ருத சித்ரபுங்க்க வைசித்ர்ய !
.Athipruthula bhahoo vidabhi giri tharanni vivara yugabhadudhaya vivrudha chitraboonka vaisitarya !
One who does amazing deeds with arrows with unique holds!
Arrows that pierce line of trees,mountains and goes deep under ground and returns back ,meekly to your arrow pouch O Rama !
Expla --As Sugrivan still had some misgivings regarding Rama's capacity to take on Vali, on his request Rama sent a shaft of arrows with unique holds which pierced 7 Sal trees in a row, toppled hills, broke open the ground and went to the nether worlds and then returned back and tucked themselves into his quiver.On seeing these amazing deed all doubts of Sugrivan was dispelled and who thence forward reposed full faith not only on Rama's physical strength but also on His superb skills in archery.
**46--- விபுல புஜ சைல மூல நிபிட நிபீடித ராவண ரண ரணக ஜநக சதுருததி விஹரண சதுர கபிகுல பதி ஹ்ருதய விசால சிலாதல தாரண தாருண சிலீ முக !
46.Vipula bhuja saila moola nipita nipeedidha ravana rana ranaga janaka chathurthadhi viharana chathura kapi kula pathi hrudaya visala siladhala tharana tharuna sileemukha!
One who has fierce arrows that pierced and hacked the broad shoulders of Vali of incomparable strength, the leader of all monkeys .
This is the Vali who had ability to visit all four seas and scared Ravana by tucking him between his mountain like arms !
Expla---Vali was in habit of doing sandhya vandhanam ,paying obscience to the sun in all four seas Once when Ravana teased him whilst he was doing sandhya vandanam in the first sea, Vali tucked Ravana in his arm pit and carried him to all other seas , performing his daily ritual and then released a severly brusied and injured Ravana in Kishkinda .
Rama's arrows could pierce and break the boulder like broad chest of Vali .

Sundara kaandam.
**47---அபார பாராவாரா பரிகா பரிவ்ருத பரபுர பரிஸ்ருத தவ தஹந ஜவந பவந பவ கபிவர பரிஷ்வங்க பாவித ஸர்வஸ்வ தாந !
47.Abhara paravara parika parivrudha parapura pari srudha dava dhahana javana pavana bhava kapivara prishvanga paavitha sarvasva dhana|
One who said that he was gifting all his wealth ,to Hanuman when He , embraced the swiftly moving son of Vayau tightly, when the latter [Hanuman] returned from Lanka which had deep sea as its moat, the kingdom of His enemy after setting that city on fire.
Expla--Rama was overcome by emotions and relieved when Hanuman gave him the good tidings that he had seen Sita in a garden in Lanka and had spoken to her and had given Her, Rama's ring.Rama embraced Hanuman tightly and said for imparting such a good news he would gift to him all his wealth.

.Ahidha sahodhara raksha :parikraha visamvaadi vividha sachiva vishram panna samaya samrambha samujrum pitha sarveswara bhava!
One who revealed that He was the supreme lord of the universe when ,Rama , You ,dispelled the doubts of Your ministers when Vibeeshan sought refuge.and restored their trust in You with your arguments based on evidences from Dharma .
Expla--When Rama and his simian army were assembled near the sea so as to cross it and proceed to Lanka ,Vibeeshan the younger brother of Ravana ,who had left his court on being abused by Ravana reached this place seeking refuge from Rama..Ravana abused Vibeeshan when he objected to the capitivity of Sita and asked him to release her and seek Rama's forgivness.
The leaders of monkeys were suspicious of the Rakshasa and the brother of the enemy,Vibeeshan 's motives and raised several objections in accepting him in their fold ,all of which Rama heard very patiently and then quoted examples from various ancient scriptures , that it would be against dharma to turn away a person seeking refuge and pointed out the painful consequences one would have to endure for such a adhramic act.

One who sanctified the sand dunes near the sea by reclining on it and performing Prayobhavesam|
Expla--Reclining till a objective is reached is known as Prayobhavesam.
On the advise of Vibeeshan ,Rama reclined on a bed of Dharbha grass near the sea requesting Samudra raja with palms joined together in supplication to pull back the waves so that He and His army could cross over to Lanka.
**53--ப்ரளய சிகி பருஷ விசிக சிகா சோஷிதாகூபார வாரி புர !
Pralaya sikki parusha vichika sika soshidhakoobhara vaari pura!
One who is capable of leaving arrows that are as hot as the inferno which is released in days of Pralaya and such arrows can suck dry all the waters of the ocean!
Expla--Pralaya is the great deluge .Non stop rains for years that would submerge everything in this world.An inferno is also released in this deluge.
Samudra raja ignored the requests of Rama as he couldnot comprehend the magnitude of His abilities .His indifference enraged Rama who sent shaft of arrows that were like the inferno unleashed in Pralaya which started drying up the waters.Even then Samudraraja didn't shed his arrogance .It was only when Rama unsheathedHis Bramha astra that the king of oceans surrendered fearing that all the oceans would dry up.Is it possible for this world to bear Rama's anger?
**54---ப்ரபல ரிபு கலஹ குதுக சடுல கபி குல கர தல தூலித ஹ்ருத கிரி நிகர ஸாதித ஸேது பத ஸீமா ஸீமந்தித ஸமுத்ர !
.Prabhala ripu kalaha kudhuka sadula kapi kula kara dhala dhoolitha hridha giri nagara saadhitha sethu padha seema seemandhitha samudra!
Excited by the prospect of battling powerful enemies like Ravana and others the monkey army plucked hillocks and carried them effortlessly like as if lifting bales of cotton and built a bridge across the sea.This bridge cut across the sea dividing it into two halves like the parting of hair on one's head .
Expla--Bridge was built when Samudraraja gave way.
**55---த்ருத தரும்ருக வரூதிநீ நிருத்த லங்காவரோத வேபது லாஸ்ய லீலோப தேச தேசிக தநுர் ஜ்யா கோஷ !
55.Trudha kathi tharumruga varuthini nirutha lankavarodha vepathu lasya leelopadesa desika dhanur jaya goshaa |
One whose sound from the bow string is like a dance master!On Lanka being besieged by fleet footed monkeys ,Rama ,You strung Your bow and the sound from it made the women of inner chambers of the palace tremble in fear that made them look like as if they were dancing.!
**56---ககந சர கநக கிரி கரிம தர நிகம மய நிஜ கருட கருதநில லவ களித விஷ வதந சர கதன
.kagana sara kanaka giri karima dhara nigama mayanija garuda karudha nila lava kallitha visha vadhana sara kadhana |
Rama!When You and Your brother were helplessly bound by the poisonous nagastra ,Your friend and vehicle the golden hued Garuda the personification of Vedas came flying like as if Meru mountain was gliding in the sky and came to Your rescue .When a small draught of wind from his wings touched the cobras ,they lost all their poison and ran for cover.
Expla --Indrajit the son of Ravana left Nagastra in his battle with Rama and Lakhmana binding them both with poisonous coils, of multitudes of cobras all of which un wound themselves and ran in fear on seeing Garuda.
**57---அக்ருத சர வநசர ரண கரண வைலக்ஷ்ய கூணிதாக்ஷி பாஹுவித ரஃஷோபலாத்யக்ஷ வக்ஷ : கவாட பாடந படிம ஸாடோப கோபாவலேப !
.Akrudha sara vanasara karana vailakshya koonnidhakshi bahuvidha raksho balaathyaksha vakshaha kavaada padana padima' satopa kopavalebha'
O proud , prestigious and furious one!When the rakshasas fought with eyes closed feeling ashamed at having to fight with monkeys whom they considered as lowly opponents having never fought with them ,You,Rama became enraged at their superciliosness which induced You to hack open the door like chests of the leaders of Rakshasas.
**58--கடுரடத் அடநி டங்க்ருதி சடுல கடோ ர கார்முக விநிர்க்கத விசங்கட விசிக விதாடந விகடித மகுட விஹ்வல விஸ்ரவஸ் தநய விஷ்ரம ஸமய விச்ராணந விக்க்யாத விக்ரம !
.Kaduradath adani dangruthi sadula katora kaarmugha vinirkatha visangada vigika vidhadana vikadhitha maguda vihvala visrawas thanaya vishrama samaya visraanan 'vikkyadha vikrama!
One who is very famous for his bravery !
Rama, the sound from your bowstring is pleasant to hear but it terrorises Your enemy .
The arrows left from Your bow shattered to bits the crown of the son of Visrawas [Ravana] which exhausted and confused him and You gave him time to relax!
Expla--Instead of killing Ravana when he was utterly exhausted in his battle with Him,Rama showed his kindness by asking Ravana to go back to his palace and rest his tired limbs and to recoup his energy and come afresh next day to the battle field, since Rama felt it was not bravery to slay an enemy when he is weak and floundering .
**59--கும்பகர்ண குல கிரி விதளந தம்போளி பூத நி : சங்க கங்கபத்ர !
.Kumbakarna kula giri vidhlana bhoodha 'ni sanga kangabhathra '
O possessor of arrows of indisputable power! By splitting open the hillock like body of Kumbakarana ,RamaYou established without doubt that Your arrows were as powerful as Indra's vajrayudhum.
**60--அபிசரண ஹுதவஹ பரிசரண விகடந ஸரபஸ பரிபதத் அபரிமித கபிபல ஜலதி லஹரி கலகல ரவகுபித மகவஜித் அபிஹநந க்ருதநுஜ ஸாக்ஷிக ராக்ஷஸ த்வந்தவ யுத்த !
Abhisarana hoodhavaha parisarana vigatana sarpas paripadhath abharimidha kapibhala jaladhila hari gala gala ravakupitha magavajith abhihanana krithnuja sakhika rakshasa twanthava yudha!
Countless number of monkey soldiers under the leadership of Your brother [Lakshmana] roaring like sea waves disturbed the Abhicharan yagna being performed by Indrajit , who on being enraged by this disturbance abandoned it half way and started fighting and was killed by Lakshmana.
Rama ,You fought bravely and slayed several Rakshas keeping Lakshmana as the witness to your valiant deeds .
Expla---Alerted by Vibeeshan that Indrajit who was performing abhicharan yaga would become invincible if he completed it , Lakshmana proceeded to the spot where yaga was being conducted along with countless monkeys whose war cry disturbed the peaceful conduct of the yaga and provoked Indrajit to abandon it half way and engage in battle and was killed by Lakshmana.
Enraged at the news of his son's death , Ravana sent his most elite and powerful contingent which Rama single handedly decimitated by using Gandarava astra which confused the Rakshas who started to see Rama everywhere amongst themselves and made them kill each other .
Lakshmana was the witness to this brave fight put up by Rama.

**62--த்ர்யம்பக ஸமதிக கோரஸ்த்ரா டம்பர ! .Thriyumbaga samathika koraas thraadumbara
One who has astras which are more fearsome than that of Siva's.
**63---ஸாரதி ஹ்ருத ரத ஸத்ரப சாத்ரவ ஸத்யாபித ப்ரதாப !
.Sarathi hrudha ratha sathraba saathrava' satyapitha prathapa'
One whose bravery is truly acknowledged even by enemies!Overcome by shame,Ravana castigated his charioteer when he steered the chariot back to his palace for lowering him in the eyes of a mighty warrior like Rama .
**64----சித சர க்ருத லவந தசமுக முக தசக நிபதந புநருதய தர களித ஜநித தர தரள ஹரி ஹய நயந நளிந வந ருசி கசித கதல நிபதித ஸூரதரு குஸூம விததி ஸூரபித ரத பத !
Sidha sara kritha lavana dasamuka muka dasaka nibhadhana punarudhya dhara kalitha janitha thara dharala hari haya nayana nalina vana ruchi kasidha kadala nibhadhitah sooradharau kusuma vidhathi 'soorapitha ratha padha'
One who has scented charriot path way !
The 10 heads of Ravana sliced off by sharp arrows left by You,Rama kept growing back , creating panic in Indra.
Indra's 1000 eyes widened and bloomed ,rivalling the beauty of lotus fields when Ravana was finally killed by Bramastra left by You, Rama .
Overjoyed at the demise of the Rakshas Ravana , Devas showered fragrant flowers of Karpaga trees on the entire stretch of the path Rama,Your chariot was driven upon .
**65-- அகில ஜகததிக புஜ பல தச லபந லபந தசக லவந ஜநித கதந பரவச ரஜநி சர யுவதி விலபந வசந ஸம விஷய நிகம முகர முக முநி வர பரிபணித !
.Akhila jagathadhiga buja bala vara dasa labana labana dasaka lavana janitha kadana paravasa rajanisara yuvathi vilabana vasana sama vishaya 'nigama sigara nigara mugara muga munivara pari pannidha
One who is praised by muni's who ceaselesly chant Vedas ,whose essence which elucidates the sacred form ,beauty and qualities of Brahman was poured out by Mandodri in her lamentations at the de capitated sight of her strong shouldered and ten headed husband Ravana who had earned several boons on performing severe penances , having all of his ten heads severed and sliced off by Rama .
**66---அபிகத சதமக ஹுதவஹ பித்ருபதி நிர்ருதி வருண பவந தநத கிரிச முக ஸூரபதி நுதி முதித !
.Abhigadha sadamaga hoodhavaha pitrupathi nirudhi varuna bavana thanadah girisa muga 'soorapathi nuthi mudhitha'
One who was pleased by the praise of Devas like Indra , Agni, Yama, Nirudhi, Varuna,Vayu , Kubera and Siva , all of whom came in person to hail Rama
Expla--On the defeat and death of Ravana , Vibeeshan brought Sita .
Rama bade Sita to enter fire and prove her purity to the common people of the world ,who Rama concluded would doubt Her chastity as She was in the house of Rakshasas for several months.
At this juncture the Devas of all 8 directions --Indra, Agni, Yama, Nirudhi, Varuna , Vayu , Kubera and Siva came in person priasing Rama's qualities and requested Him to accept Sita .
**67-- அமித மதி விதி விதித கதித நிஜ விபவ ஜலதி ப்ருஷத லவ !
.Amitha madhi vidhi vidhitha kaditha nija vibhava jalathi prushadha lava.
Rama! You were praised by Brahma who has infinite knowledge.The praises were like a drop in Your ocean like qulaities .
Expla --Even Brahma of infinite knowledge cannot fanthom the infinite qualities of Rama .
**68---விகத பய விபுத பரிப்ருட விபோதித வீர சயந சாயித வாநர ப்ருதநௌக!
.Vigadha bhaya vibhutha paripuruda vibhodhitha veera sayana saayidha vanara prutha nowga
One who was sorrounded by waves upon waves of monkeys whose lives was revived by Indra.
Expla--Indra overjoyed at his fear being dispelled with slaying of Ravana , granted a boon to Rama . Rama requested that all the monkeys slain in the war with Rakshasas be brought back to life .
Indra obliged and soon ,waves upon waves of monkey army came to life all of whom woke up like as if from a deep sleep.
**69-- ஸ்வ ஸமய விகடித ஸூகடித ஸஹ்ருதய ஸஹதர்ம சாரிணீக !
Sva samaya vigaditha soogaditha svahrudhya sahadharma saranika.
One who was separated and also united with a wife dear to His heart,on His own accord and as per His will!
**70---விபீஷண வசம் வதீக்ருத லங்கை ச்வர்ய !
.Vibeeshana vasam vadikrudha lankai isvarya
Rama! You conquered Lanka and all its wealth ,yet You allowed Vibeeshana to rule it as a sovereign ruler
Expla--.Though Rama was the conqueror of Lanka,He refrained from making Vibheeshana His vassal.owing to His generous heart. Rama kept His promise made to Vebeeshana that of making him the sovereign ruler of Lanka by handing over the reins of Lanka to his total possesion and absolute enjoyment and blessed him to rule it with full freedom.
**71--- நிஷ்பந்ந க்ருத்ய !
.Nishbana kruthaya!
One who has completed his duties.
Expla --Rama fulfiled the purpose of his avatar that of removing the fear of Devas by slaying Ravana. .
He also made Vibeeshana ,who had earlier surrendered before him ,to be seated on the throne of Lanka its monarch , thus keeping His word.and fullfilling His promise made to Vibheeshana.
Rama also dispelled fears of rishis by slaying asuras.
**72--க புஷ்பித ரிபு பக்ஷ !
. Ka pushpitha ripu paksha!
Rama ! You made all your enemies disappear without a trace ,;like the lotus in the sky.
Expla--Lotus blooming in sky is a mirage.It is non existent.He made His enemies irrelevant and erased their very existence .
**73--புஷ்பக ரபஸ கதி கோஷ் பதீ க்ருத ககநார்ணவ !
73.Pushpaka rabas kadhi ghosh padhikrudha gaganarnava
One who reduced the ocean like vast space to the distance between cow's toes by speeding on Pushpak vimaan.
Expla-- Vibeeshana brought Pushpak vimanum to transport Rama back to Ayodhya .Rama alighted it along with others.His mere presence on board was sufficient to make this craft to speed across the skies.
**74---ப்ரதிஜ்ஞார்ணவ தரண க்ருத க்ஷண பரத மநோரத ஸம்ஹித ஸிம்ஹாஸநாதிரூட !
74.Prathingya narnava tharana krutha kshana baratha manoradha samhitha simhasanadhiruda
One who ascended the throne, an accesion which was the heart felt desire of Bharata who had taken a vow as vast as the sea.
Expla--When Bharta returned to Ayodhya from Chitrkoot he took a vow as vast as the sea that he would enter fire and leave his life if Rama didnot retrurn to Ayodhya at the end of his 14 year exile .
Thus at the end of 14 years when Rama did not come , Bharata was about to enter fire when Hanuman who was sent by Rama, prevented him from doing so by assuring Bharata of the imminent arival of his elder brother Rama .

One whose foot stool to the throne was like the shining peaks of Meru and whose feet received the aarti of lights dazzling from the jewels of crowns of innumerable kings paying thier obseince to Your sacred feet with bowed heads.

One who is Bhagwan of both ,the celestial Ayodhya as well as the Ayodya of this world.
Expla--Rama is lord of Srivaikuntum which is also known as Ayodhya .His capitol city in this world was also known as Ayodhya.
**79---பித்ரு வத குபித பரசுதர முநி விஹித ந்ருப ஹநந கதந பூர்வகால ப்ரபவ சத குண ப்ரதிஷ்ட்டா பித தார்மிக ராஜ வம்ச !
79.Pitru vadakupitha parasuradhara muni vihidha nrupa hanana kadhana poorvakaala prabhava sadha guna prathishtabida dharmica rajavamsa
One who restored the prestige and honour of kings by 100 times more than their past glory , that had declined owing to the wrath of Parasuramar in his quest to avenge his father's death.
Rama You are a king who never sweres from path of dharma .You established a dynasty whose kings in a very long line succesion, also followed the path of Dharma !
**80--- சுப சரித ரத பரத கர்வித கர்வ கந்தர்வ யூத கீத விஜய காதா சத !
.Subha saritha ratha baratha karvith garva gandharva yudha geetha 'vijaya kadha sadha'
One who has 100's of songs sung in praise by Ghandharvas who were brought back to their original vocation by Bharta ,the performer of good deeds.
Expla --Ghandharvas were the rulers of the region that consisted of the two banks of river Sindhu.They had abandoned their vocation which was singing and started to trouble their subjects.
On the request of Bharat's uncle, Rama sent Bharta to subjugate them .Baratha who performed only good deeds, went there , subjugated them and re - involved them in their true vocation. At this ,the ,Ghandharvas sang songs in praise of Rama in gratitude.
**81-----சாஸித மதுஸூத சத்ருக்ந ஸேவித !
. Sasitha madhusooda shatrugana sevitha.!
One who is worshipped by Shatrugan , the slayer of the son of Madhusudhan .
Expla--Lavana the son of Madhusudha the ruler of Mathura was troubling Rishis and Devas .On the request of rishis, Rama sent his brother Shatrugun who killed the Asura and restored peace.
**82---குச லவ பரிக்ருஹீத குல காதா விசேஷ !

Expla --Valmiki taught Ramayana to Lava and Kusha the sons of Rama.They could recite it very sweetly.

.Vidhi vasa parinamadhara panithi kalivara rasidha nija charitha nibandhana nisamana nirvrudha .
One who was pleased to hear his life story as explained by the great poet Valmiki , written in language of the North that attained scaredness of slokas owing to a twist of fate
Expla --Valmiki's grief on witnessing the death of a bird at the hands of a hunter led to outpourings of bitterness at that hunter which ultimately culminated in the writing of the epic Ramayana.

One who was praised by Kubera who was amazed byYour magnaminity whenYou ,Rama, insisted on returning thePushpak vimanum to him .
Expla--Ravana had stolen Pushpak vimanum from Kubera. Rama returned to Ayodhya in it on Vibeeshan's request .
Rama on reaching Ayodhya, sent it back to Kubera who in return offered its servises to Rama who declined this offer.Kubera awestruck at Rama 's magnaminity hailed him .
**86---பஞ்ச தாப்ந்ந முநிகுமார ஸஞ்சீவ நாம்ருத !
.Panchadha panna munikumara sanjeevanaamrudha!
Rama!By bringing back to life a Muni's dead son , You are life giving nectar.
**87--த்ரேதாயுக ப்ரவர்த்தித கார்த்தயுக வ்ருத்தாந்த !
.Trethayuga pravarthitha karthayuga vruthanandh !
Rama! Your reign in Trethayuga had all the facets of Krithayuga!
Expla--Trethayuga has lesser dharma than preceding Krithayuga.Rama's avatar was in Trethayuga ,yet Rama's rajya was sublime and as per Dharma and his subjects lead a dharmic life .Hence Rama's reign in Trethayuga established the noble principles of the preceding yuga .
**88---அவிகல பஹு சஸூவர்ண ஹயமக ஸஹஸ்ர நிர்வஹண நிரவர்த்தித நிஜ வர்ணாசரம தர்ம !
.Avikala bahusuvarna hayamaga sahasra nirvahana nirvarthidha nija varnasrama dharma!
By performing several Aswamedha yagas and gifting mounds of gold ,Rama You fulfilled the duties of Your caste as well as the duties of a householder.
Expl --Ashwamedha yagas were performed only by kings who belonged to Kshatriya caste.

Rama!Each and every means of worship is dedicated to You.
Expla--Any penance ,deed, prayer or yagna performed for any god is actually a dedication to Rama.Since Rama is the inner atma of all gods any person worshiping any god ,howsoever diverse is ultimately worshiping Rama .

By granting heaven to all things, plants and animals of Kosala country, though they earned this merit not by any personal endeavour ,but by merely inhabiting Your kingdom Rama, You are repositry of eternal and infinite fame!
Explanation --WhenNarayana's avatar Rama shedHis mortal coils ,all creatures and things of His Kosala kingdom followed Him onHis onward journey.Though none of them earned any merit through any deeds or worship or yagna ,the very fact that they inhabited this world during His reign was sufficient for Rama to command Brahma to create a new higher loka [regions] to accommodate them .
Brahma created Shanthanigam Loka and protected them .This deed of Rama made people to realise His qualities.

When devotees are burnt and suffer in the heat of samsara Rama,You are like a cool garden to them!

Explanation --Rama is avatar of Narayana.Brahma is son of Narayana. Siva who is the son of Brahma is the grandson of Narayana.Murugan and Vinayakar are great grandsons of Narayana. .Hence they are all son, grandson and great grandsons of Rama.Since Rama led a house holders life with Sita who is Maha Lakshmi the inseparable consort of Narayana, the entire world and universe are Rama's family and all are His children.Hence I hail and salute Rama!

Scholars !Sri Vedantha Desikan was like a lion to debaters and poets.He has written this Mahavira Vaibhavam which is full of deep and sublime meanings .The language is at times difficult to understand and at times very easy to comprehend .Reciting these slokas will act as a medicine curing those fearing the eternal cycle of birth , death and re-birth!
