A nervous looking priest of the temple at Thirupathisaram took us to the small house at the end of the road ,where Namaazhwar the foremost Tamil Vaisnavaite saint ,was born .It is small and
neatly tended.

He wanted dakshina , saying that though Amma had raised the abysmally low salary of priests that stood at Rs 800 for several decades to 2500 Rs , for which he was thankful ,it was still not enough to make ends meet.
