Obedience.
Read an article in toi about the arrest of a activist aged and old in here at Chennai and that a sinister nexus exists between politicians , police, doctors,and magestrate,to crush dissent.They were quoting activists and criminal lawyers .
No need for me to elaborate.A point in my stomach feels very hard and numb after amajor surgery few months back.
My spine at its base is made to tingle and it is accompanied by painful urination .How am i going to protect my spine when i bathe ,dress or sleep on my side or in ordinary chores of daily life?
Definetly i am treated like an animal , a dog that has to obey.
In our days at a suburb of chennai a man used to train a year old Doberman which was reared as a domestic pet and as a watch dog by a Anglo indian neighbour .My father in one of his visit to my house saw this training of this grown up pup done in the street outside my house .A street that had no traffic of any kind that more or less had the privacy of a cul-de-sac.
My father immediately recognised the trainer of the dog to be the son in law of his former valet .A person who had retd from bsf as a dog trainer .He talked to him and got to know that the son in law was training domestic dogs to augument his income after retirement from the forces ,having left it at quite a young age.He was not even middle aged then .
My father being a dog lover himself gleaned further information about training of dogs He learnt from that retd bsf dog trainer that police and army dogs were trained to obey by using a well tested method , that of putting fear in its mind by squeezing and twisting its genitials ,till it hurt with bare hands for several days in a row and then the dog would automatically obey with just a sleight of the trainers hands and it would be always alert to his instructions.He said obedience was generally had but for a few dogs who were too aggressive or restless He was doing exactly what he said to that dog to make it obey..
On hearing this all of us baulked at this crude treatment for extracting obedience and felt revolted at the way obedience was sought and were sorry for that animal for losing its dignity in this manner.
OK conceded that army and police dogs needs and servises are a different category .What is the need to subject a pet dog to such a harsh treatment?Is it a fad?Splurge money on this out of the way training just because one has it?Impress neighbours and visitors by parading its obedience? Or run a house with military discipline?
