Thaniyan--

                 नीला तुन्गस तनगरि तडी सॊप्थमुथ्बोथ्य कृष्णं

                 पारार्थ्यं स्वं शृति सद सिरसित्तम मत्या बयन्ती

                 स्वोचि सिष्तायां स्रजि निगलीतं  या बलात्कृत्य पुन्गते

                कोदा  तस्य नम  इधमिदम् बूय  येवास्थु  भूय :||


தனியன் --

சூடிக்கொடுத்த சுடர்கொடியே  ! தொல்பாவை
பாடியருள வல்லபல்வளையாய் ! நாடிநீ 
வேங்கட வற்கென்னை விதியென்ற விம்மாற்றம்
நாம் கடவா வண்ணமே நல்கு .

 

அல்லி நாள்  தாமரைமேல்  ஆரணங்கின்  இன்துணைவி
மல்லின டாண்ட மடமையில் மெல்லியியலாள்
வெஆயர் குலவேந்தன்  ஆகத்தாள்  தென் புதுவை
யர்  பயந்த விளக்கு .

 Alli naall tamaraimel aranaganin inthunaivi

 Malina tanda madamayil meliyilal

Aayar kulavendhan agathaal then puduvai

Veyar payandha villaku.

Meaning-Andal is the sweet and dear friend of Devi seated on a lotus.               Andal who is enchanting is like a peacock ruled over Malli nadu,                           She is compatible with the sacred form of the leader of Yadavas-                             Sri Krishna,                                                                                                                  Periazhwar of Veyar clan  who belonged to the beautiful place known as Sri Valliputhur brought forth this light.

    பாஞ்சசன்னியத்தை பதுமநானபனோடும் சுற்ற மாக்கல் .                 Panchiagyaniyathai Padhumanabhanodu sutram aakal.

1*.கருப்பூரம்  நாறுமோ கமலப்பூ நாறுமோ , 
 திருப்பவள்ளச் செவ்வாய்தான் தித்தித் திருக்குமோ
 மருப்பொசித்த மாதவன்தன் வாய்ச்சுவையும்  நாற்றமும்
விருப்புற்றுக்  கேட்கின்றேன் சொல்லாழி வெண்சங்கே .

1*.

  Karpuram narumo kamalapoo narumo ,                                                   

       Thirupavalla sevvaidhaan thithithirukkumo,                                              

      Maruposithu Madhavanthun vaisuvaiyum nattramum    

      Viruputru ketkinren solaazhi vennsange.

'O' Majestic white Conch!It is my desire to know the taste and scent of the coral like red mouth of Madhavan ,who twisted the tusks of 'the elephant Kuvalyapeeda, Is it the scent of raw camphor? Or is it the scent of lotus?Is it nectarine sweet to taste?

2.கடலில் பிறந்து  கருதாது  பஞ்சசனன்
   உடலில் வளர்ந்து போய் ஊழியான் கைத்தலத்
  திடரில் குடியேறித் தீய வசுரர்
  நடலைப் படமுழங்கும்  தோற்றத்தாய்   நற்சங்கே !

2.  Kaddalil pirandhu karudhadhu Panjanun                                                          

           Udalili valarndhu poi oozhiyan kaithalath                                                     

           Thidaril kudiyeri theeya vasurar,                                                        

   Nadalai padamuzhangum thotrathai  narsange!

Beautiful Conch! You took birth in the sea and grew in the body of the lowly Asura Panghiyan but you have taken residence in Bhagwan's noble hands !                    You have the honour of striking fear amongst cruel Asuras and making  them to tremble at your roar!

3.தடவரையின்  மீதே சரற்கால சந்திரன்
   இடையுவா வில்வந்து எழுந்தாலே போல்நீயும்
    வடமதுரையார்  மன்னன் வாசுதேவன்  கையில்
   குடியேறி  வீற்றிருந்தாய்  கோலப்  பெருஞ்சங்கே !

3. Thadavaraiyin meedhe sararkala chandiran ,

    idaiyuva vilvandhu yezhundhale pol neeyum,

    vadamaduraiyaar  mannan Vasudevan kaiyil,

    kudiyeri veetrirundhai kola perunsange!

Like the full moon rising above a huge hill in a pleasant night,

'O'Beautiful and huge conch,you have taken residence in the sacred hands of Vasudeva , the ruler of North Madurai [Mathura].

4.சந்திர மணடலம்போல்  தாமோதரன்கையில்
   அந்தர மொன்றின்றி  ஏறிஅவன்  செவியில்
   மந்திரம்  கொள்வாயே  போலும் வலம்புரியே !
   இந்திரனும்  உன்னோடு  செல்வத்துக்கு  ஏலானே .

4.Chandira mandalam pol Damodharan kaiyil ,

Andhara mondrindri yeri avan seviyil,

Mandhiram kollvaye polum Valamburiye!

Indiranum unodu selvathikku yelane.

'O' Valamburi Conch! You have taken un interrupted residence in Damodaran's arms like the moon has  in its regions,

You appear to be telling some secrets mantras in his  ears !

Even Indra cannot compete with you in this wealth!

5.உன்னோ  டுடனே ஒருகடலில்  வாழ்வாரை
இன்னாரினை யாரென்று  எண்ணுவாரில்லை காண்
 மன்னாகி  நின்ற மதுசூதன் வாய்முதம்
  பன்னாளு  முண்கின்றாய்  பாஞ்ச  சன்னியமே.

5.Unnoduddane orukadalil  vaazhvarai ,

Innarinai yaarendru yennuvarilai kaan,

Mannanaghi nindra Madhusoodhan vai amudhum ,

Pannallu munnkinrai panjya sanniyame !

'O'Panjyasanniyame ,scant respect is shown to those who were born along with you in the ocean ,

For aeons you alone have the honour of drinking the nectar of the sacred mouth of Madhusudhan , the ruler of the the universe !

6.  போய்த்  தீர்த்தமாடாதே  நின்ற புணர்   மருதம்
     சாய்த்து  ஈர்த்தான் கைத்தலத்தே  ஏறிக் குடி கொண்டு
   சேய்த்தீர்த்த  மாய்நின்ற  செங்கண்மால்  தன்னுடைய
   வாய்தீர்த்தம்  பாய்ந்தாட  வல்லாய் வலம்புரியே !
    

6.Poi theerthamadathe nindra punnar marudham ,

Saiyithu eerthaan kaithalathe yeri kudikondu,

Seitheertha mainindra Sengannmaal  thanudaiya                                                                                 

Vaitheertham paindhada vallai , Valamburiye!

'O'Valumburi Conch!People travel great distances to take a dip in holy rivers .You have no such difficulties.

You have climbed up the hands of one who felled two Marutha trees in one stroke, and are residing there.

There fore you are fortunate to have a dip in the largest holy waters  which is found in the mouth of the red eyed Tirumaal !

7.செங்கமல நாண்மலர்மேல்  தேன்நுகரும் அன்னம் போல்
    செங்கண்  கருமேனி வாசுதேவனுடைய
   அங்கைத்   தலமேறி  அன்னவசம்  செய்யும்
   சங்கு  அரையா  உன்செல்வம்  சால அழகியதே !

7.Sengkamala naannmalar mel thenugurum annam pol,

Sengkann karumeni Vasudevanudaiya ,

Angai thalameri annavasam seiyum ,

Sangu araiya unselvam saalla azhagiyadhe!

'O'Conch! like a swan drinking the honey from freshly bloomed lotuses, you have climbed on to the red eyed and black hued Vasudevan's hands  and have enshrined yourself there in.

Your wealth is truly very beautiful .

8.  உண்பது  சொல்லில்  உலகளந்தான்  வாயமுதம்
    கண்படை கொள்ளல் கடல் வண்ணன் கைத்தலத்தே
    பெண்படையார்  உன்மேல் பெரும்பூசல்  சாற்றுகின்றார்
    பண்பல செய்கின்றாய்  பாஞ்ச சன்னியமே !

8.Unnbadu solil Ulagalandhan  vaiamudham ,

Kannpadai kollal kadal vannan kaithalathe ,

Penpadaiyar  unnmel perum poosal satrugindranar,

Pannpala seigindrai Panjya sanniyame!

'O'Panjyasaniume!you partake the amruth found in the mouth of One who measured the universe ,

You close your eyes to  go to sleep on the hands of the sea hued One.

Hence a battalion of women are furious at you for usurping their place and are protesting loudly at the injustice you are meting out to them.

9.பதினாறா  மாயிரவர்  தேவிமார்  பார்த்திருப்ப
மதுவாயில்  கொண்டாற்போல்  மாதவன்தன்  வாயமுதும்
பொதுவாக உண்பதனை புக்குநீ  உண்டக்கால்
சிதையாரோ  உன்னோடு ?செல்வ ப்  பெருஞ்சங்கே.

9.Padhinara mayiravar  devimar parthiruppa,

Madhuvayil kondarpol Madhavanthun vai amudhum ,

Podhuvaga unnbadanai pukku nee undakaal,

Sidhaiyaro unnodu?Selva perunsange!

'O'Wealthy and majestic Conch! When 16000 devis [wives]  are waiting to drink in the amrutham in Madhavan's mouth, you alone are enjoying the honey sweet amurtham.

Isn't it natural for them to be antagonostic towards you?

10.  பாஞ்ச சன்னியத்தை பற்பநா பனோடும்
வாய்ந்த பெருஞ் சுற்றமாக்கிய வண்பதுவை
ஏய்ந்த புகழ்ப்  பட்டர்பிரான் கோதை  தமிழ் ஈரைந்தும்
 ஆயிந்தேத்த  வல்லார்  அவரும்  அணுக்கரே .

10.Panjiya sanniyathai Parbanabhanodum,

Vaayindha perunj sutrumaakia  vanpudhuvai,

Yeindha pughaz bhattarpiran kodai tamizh eeraiyindhum,

Aayenthetha vallar avarum annukare!

Those who recite all the above10 Tamil pasurams  of Kodhai ,the daughter of Periyaazhwar of Srivalliputtur,

will become very close to Padmanabhan in the manner in which Panjyasannium   is with him  .
