Sri Thondaradi Podi Aazhwar the Vaishnavaite saint of 9 th cent AD has written 10 Pasurams or stanzas in exquisite Tamil  ,to awaken Sri Ranganathar from his daily slumber .

These Pasurams are recited early in the morning in all major Vishnu temples .It is recited in month of Margazhi viz January in Tirumala along with Thirupavai.

Meaning--Sriman Narayana is reclining on a wonderful bed at SriRangam,

He is Para Vasudevan.           

 Thondar adi podi Aazhwar worships Him.

 With atmost kindness azhwar  has bestowed upon us hymns to awaken Sri Ranganathar.

It befits aazhwar to be worshipped like a king.

He is full of  auspicious qualities like knowledge and so on .

I bow to him.

மண்டங் குடியென்பர் மாமறையோர் மன்னியசீர்த்
தொண்டரடிப்பொடி தொன்னகரம்  -வண்டு

Meaning--

Mandangudi is famous for its vast fields over which  a dense cover of bees  hover,

This place is praised by Veda Pandits

Are these the only speciality of this place?The most distinguishing feature of this place is that this is the birth place of Thondaradi podi aazhwar who out his great kindness towards us has bestowed wonderful hymns to awaken Sri Ranganathar from His sleep.

1. கதிரவன்  குணதிசைச்  சிகரம்  வந்தணைந்தான்
           கனையிருள்கன்றது கலையம் பொழுதாய்
    மதுவிரிந்  தொழுகின மாமலரெல்லாம் ;
          வானவர்  அரசர்கள் வந்து வந்தீண்டி ;
  எதிர்திசை நிறைந்தனர்  ;இவரொடும் புகுந்து
         இருங்களிற் றீட்டமும் பிடியொடு முரசும்
  அதிர்தலில்  அலைகடல்  போன்றுளது எங்கும்
      அரங்கத்தமா ! பள்ளி எழுந்தருளாயே.


1.Kadiravan kunnadisai sigaram vandhanaindhaan

 Kanaiyirul agandradhu kalaiyum pozhudai,

 Madhuvirindhozhugina mamalar yellam,

  Vaanavar arasargal vandhu vantheendi

Yedhir disai niraindhanar ivarodum pugundhu,

Yirungkal leetramum pidiyodu murasum,

Adhirdhalili alaikadal pondrulladhu yengum,

Arangathama !Palli yezhundharulaye.




Sri Ranganatha!The sun has started climbing up in the eastern direction,

The heavy darkness of the night has left.

The morning flowers have blossemed and nectar is dripping out of them.

All the kings of celestial worlds are nearing You to pay their obseince,

They have occupied the entire space in the opposite direction,

Male and female elephants have entered this array and are trumpeting,

The vibrations caused by drum beat which is heard every where  is like the roar of the sea waves ,

Please wake up and bless every one,





2.  கொழுங்கொடி  முல்லையின்  கொழுமலரணவிக்
             கூர்ந்தது  குணதிசை  மாருதும் இதுவோ
     எழுந்தன மலரணைப் பள்ளி கொள்ளன்னம்
          ஈன்பனி நனைந்த  தமிருஞ்சிற   குதறி
     விழுங்கிய முதலையின் பிலம்புரை பேழ்வாய்
         வெள்ளையிறுற அதன்விடத்   தினுக்கனுங்கி
      அழுங்கிய  ஆனையினருந்துயிர் கெடுத்த
           அரங்கத்தம்மா !பள்ளி  எழுந்தருளாயே !


2.Kozhungkodi mullaiyin kozhumalaranavi koorndhadhu marutham idhuvo

Yezhundhana malaranai palli kollannam

Yeenpani nanaindhu mirunchirag udhari vizhungiya mudalaiyin pilamburai pezhvai

Vellaiyirura adhanvida thinukanungi       

 Azhungia annaiyin iyirunthuyar kedutha

Arangathamma! Palli yezhundarulaye!


The jasmine plants are in full bloom

They are embraced by a gentle breeze blowing from the East ,

The swans that have passed the night comfortably sleeping over a bed of flowers have woken up!

And are flapping their wings to dislodge the dew that has drenched them all night through.

Sri Ranga!One who has rescued and dispelled the sorrow of the elephant whose leg was caught in the invincible grip of rows upon rows of sharp and poisonous teeth lining the huge crater like mouth of a crocodile,

Please wake up ! Arise from Your bed and bless us.





3.   சுடரொளி பரந்தன  சூழ்திசை யெல்லாம்
         துன்னிய தாரகை மின்னொளி சுருங்கி
     படரொளி பசுத்தினன் பனிமதி இவனோ?
         பாயிருளகன்றது :பைம்பொழிற் கமுகின்
 மடலிடைக்  கீறிவண் பாளைகள் நாற
       வைகறை கூர்ந்தது மாருதும்  இதுவோ
 அடலொளி  திகழ்தரு திகிரியந்  தடக்கை
     அரங்கத்தம்மா !பள்ளி எழுந்தருளாயே.


3.Sudarolli parandana choozhdisai  yellam,

Thuniya tharagai minolli surungi ,

Padarolli pasuthinan panimadhi ivano?

Paayirul agandradhu paimpozhir kamughin,

Madalidai keerivan palaigal narra ,

Vaikarai koorndhadhu maruthum  idhuvo,

Adalolli thigazhtharu thigiriyan thadakai

Arangathamma! Palli yezhundharulaye.


Bright light has spread across in all sorrounding directions,

The luminious light of the stars are fading ,

The cool moon light is also shrinking.Darkness has left ,

The scent of the sap of arcenut trickling out of the cuts made on the barks of the arcenut tree from nearby groves ,is wafting all around.

The cool breeze that signals the break of dawn is blowing ,gently.

Ranganatha!The beholder of Conch and Chakra with sacred hands ,

Please wake up !

To partake in all these beauties of nature and also to bless us all!





4.  மேட்டிளமேதிகள் தளைவிடும் ஆயர்கள்
          வேய்ங்குழலோசையும் விடை மணிக்குரலும்
    ஈட்டிய இசைதிசை பரந்தன :வயலுள்
       இரிந்தன சுரும்பினம் :இலங்கையர் குலத்தை
   வாட்டிய வரிசிலை வான  வரேறே !
      மாமுனி வேள்வியைக்  காத்து  அவபிரதம்
  ஆட்டிய அடுதிறல யோத்தி யெம்மரசே !
     அரங்கத்தம்மா !பள்ளி  எழுந்தருளாயே .


4.Metilla medhigal thalaividum ayargal,

Veiyung kuzhalosaiyum vidai mannikuralum,

Yeetiya isai disai  parandhana vayalull,

Irindhana surumbhinam ilangaiyar kulathai

Vaatiya varisilai Vanavarere !,

Mamuni vellviyai kaathu avapradham        

Aatiya aduthiral Ayodhi  yemarase',

Arangathamma !Palli yezhundarulaye.



Herds men have let loose the buffaloes for  grazing and they are playing on their bamboo flutes as they follow their cattle,

The bells tied around the oxens necks have started to tinkle as they are being led to work ,

Bees have begun humming, in the wet paddy fields,

Sri Ranganatha!The leader of all Devas, who once upon a time annihilated the ruler of Lanka and his kinsmen!

The king of Ayodhya!Who guarded the Yagna performed by the great sage Viswamitra and took Avapradha ,the ritual bath ,

Please wake up and bless us all.


Note --Avapradha is a ritual bath taken after completion of a specific Yagna.




5.புலம்பின புட்களும் பூம்பொழில்களின் வாய்
    போயிற்றுக்  கங்குல் புகுந்தது  புலரி
 கலந்தது குணதிசைக்   கனை கடலரவம்
    களிவண்டு மிழற்றிய கலம்பகம்  புனைந்த
அலங்கலந் தொடையல்   கொண்டு அடியிணை  பணிவான்
    அமரர்கள் புகுந்தனர்  ஆதலில் அம்மா !
இலங்கையர் கோன் வழிபாடு  செய்கோவில்
   எம்பெருமான்  ! பள்ளி எழுந்தருள்வாயே !


5.Pullambina putkallum poom  pozhilgalin vai,

Poyitru gangul pugundhadhu pulari,

Kalandhadhu gunadisai kannai kadalaravam,

Kalli vandu mizhatri kalambagam punaindhu

Alangkalan  thodaiyal kondu adiyinnai pannivaan,

Amarargal pughundhanar aadhalil amma,

ilangaiyar cone vazhipaadu seikoyil

Emberuman! Palli yezhundharulaye !



Birds are squabbling in the groves,

Darkness has departed  and dawn has broken ,

From the Eastern side the roar of the ocean is heard,

The free Atmas are waiting with garlands of flowers with bees humming over them to worship you!

Vibeeshanan the king of Lanka has made you, the ruler of Ayodhya to halt here and preside over us!

He often comes here to this temple to worship you.!

Sriman Narayana!Please wake up and bless us all.




6.இரவியர் மணி நெடுந்தேரொடும்  இவரோ ?
      இறையவர்  பதினொரு விடையரும்  இவரோ ?
 மருவிய மயிலினனறுமுகன் இவனோ ?
   மருதரும் வசுக்களும் வந்து வந்தீண்டி
புரவியோடு ஆடலும் பாடலும் தேரும் '
  குமர தண்டம் புகுந்து ஈண்டிய வெள்ளம்
அருவரை யனைய  நின்கோயில்  முன் இவரோ
அரங்கத்தம்மா !பள்ளி எழுந்தருளாயே . 



6.Irraviar maninedun therodum ivaro

Iraiyavar padhinoru Vidaiyarum ivaro

Maruviaya mayilinanArumugan ivano,

Marutharum Vasukkallum  vandu vantheendi

Puraviyodu aadalum padalum therum ,

Kumarathandum pugundh eendia vellam ,

Aruvarai yanai nin koilmun ivaro

Arangathamma! Palli yezhundharullaye.



Are these the twelve Adityas who have come on their huge chariots?

Are these the eleven Uttaras who have come on the back of bulls?

Is this Bhagwan Murugan on his vehicle the peacock?

Are those who are dancing and singing Maruts and Vasus?

Won't this flood of Devas who have gathered outside Your temple gates which are as huge as a hill , breach it any time now?

Sri Ranganatha! Please wake up and bless us all.


Note:12 Adityas, 11 Uttaras, 8 Vasus and 2 Aswins together constitute 33 deities , each of whom  have a crore devas as followers.


In the above Pasuram aazhwar refers to 33 crore deities/Devas who are waiting to pay obscience to Sri Ranganathar





7.அந்தரத்த மரர்கள் கூட்டங்கள் இவையே ?
      அருந்தவ முனிவரும் மருதரும் இவரோ?
இந்திரனானையும் தானும் வந்திவனோ ?
    எம்பெருமான் !உன் கோயிலின் வாசல்
சுந்தரர் நெருக்க விச்சாதரர் நூக்க
  இயக்கரும் மயங்கினர் திருவடிதொழுவான்
அந்தரம்பாரிடமில்லை  மற்றிதுவோ ?
  அரங்கத்தம்மா !பள்ளி எழுந்தருளாயே !

Arunthava Munivarum Marutharum ivaro

Indirananaiyum thanum vandhivano

Emberumaan vun koilin vaasal

Sundarar nerukka Vichadharar nookka

Iyakkarum mayanginar thiruvadi thozhuvaan

Andharum paaridamillai matrithuvo

,Arangathamma! Palli yezhundharulaye.




The celestials Devas have gathered in large numbers.

Rishi's who have undertaken severe penances and Maruts as well as Indra seated on his elephant as also Yakshas, Vidyodhars and Gandharvas  of incomparable beauty and artistry,

Are all waiting at the entrance of your temple ,to worship Your sacred feet!

Sriman Narayana! There is not a inch of space left in the earth or in the sky to accomodate these crowds of devotees ,who are pushing one another restlessly ,in the quest of worshiping Your sacred feet.

Sri Ranganatha! Please wake up .


Note:--Maruts are Devas under Lord Indra.




8.வம்பவிழ் வானவர் வாயுறை வழங்க
      மாநிதிகபிலை ஒண் கண்ணாடி முதலா
எம்பெருமான் படிமக்கலங் காண்டற்கு
   ஏற்பனவாயின   கொண்டு  நன்  முனிவர்
தும்புரு நாரதர் புகுந்தனர் இவரோ ?
   தோன்றினன்  இரவியும் துலங்கொளி பரப்பி
அம்பரதலத்திநின்று  அகல்கின்ற இருள்போய்
    அரங்கத்தம்மா !பள்ளி  எழுந்தருளாயே .
 

8.Vambhavizh Vanavar vaiyurai vazhanga

Maanidhi Kapilaiyon kannadi mudala

Emberuman padimakkalang kaandarkku

Yerpanavayina kondu nan munivar

Thumburu Naradar pughundhanar ivaro

Thondrinun iraviyum thulangolli  parrapi

Ambarathalathil nindru agalkindra irullpoi

Arangathamma !Palli yezhundharulvaye.



The Devas have brought grass to feed Kapilais,which are priceless wealth,

Rishis who do not expect anything in return have brought mirrors and other things after carefully weighing their usefulness in their servitude to You ,my Bhagwan SrimanNarayana,

Are these Thumburuvars and Naradar ,who have come to render auspicious music?

The sun has appeared ,spreading his sparkling light .

The sky is no longer dark ,as night has moved away.

External light has appeared,for inner light to appear , 

Sri Ranganatha! Please wake up to bless us all.


Note: Kapilais are special breed of cows .

Aazhwar in the above Pasuram implores Sri Ranganathar to dispel inner darkness and light it as brightly as the morning sky , outside.




9--ஏதமில் தண்ணுமை  எக்கம்  மத்தளி
        யாழ்குழல் முழவமோடு  இசை திசை கெழுமி
    கீதங்கள்   பாடினர் கின்னரர் கெருடர்கள்
       காந்தருவரவர்  கங்குலு ளெல்லாம்
மாதவர்வானவர்  சாரணர்  இயக்கர்
   சித்தரும் மயங்கினர்  திருவடித்  தொழுவான்
ஆதலில் அவர்க்கு நாளோலக்கம்  அருள

Yaazh Kuzhal Muzhvamodu isai disai kezhumi

Geethangal padinar Kinnarar Gerudargal

Gandharu varavar Kangulu yellam

Madhavar Vanavar Saranar Iyakkar

Siddharum  mayanginar thiruvadi thozhuvaan,

Adhalil avarkku nallolakkam arulla

Arangathamma !Palli yezhundharulaye.!



Small drums without any blemish, instruments that maintain rhythm ,small Mirudhangams , lyre, Flute and other musical instruments are rendering music all around ,

Kinnars , Garudas and Ghandharvas are singing in honey sweet voice on all sides ,

Munis,Devas,Saranars ,Yakshas  and Siddhars who have done penance all night ,  have come to worship Your sacred feet

Sri Ranganatha!So as to bless them all in person ,please wake up .


Note:It is aazhwars conviction that Sri Ranganathar would bless all those gathered to pay their obeisance ,equally, irrespective of their status.




10--கடிமலர்க்  கமலங்கள் மலர்ந்தன இவையே ?
              கதிரவன் கனைகடல் முளைத்தனன்  இவனோ
   துடியிடையார் சுரிகுழல்  பிழிந்துதறித்

தொடையொத்து துளவமும்  கூடையும்  பொலிந்து

அடியனை அளியனென்றருளி  உன்னடியார்க்கு

Thodaiyotha thulavum koodaiyum polindhu

Thondriya thol Thondaradipodi yennum

Adiyannai alliyan endru arulli unn adiyarkku

Aatpaduthai! Palli yezhundharulaye.




Aern't those scented lotuses that have blossomed in the ponds  in the gardens?

Isn't  that the sun which has risen over the noisy sea?

Slim waisted women , have bathed in river Kaveri and have squeezed their curly hair dry and have changed their clothes and have climbed up the banks ,

My Bhagwan! You are reclining in Sri Rangam which is sorrounded by river Kaveri!

I ,Thondar adi podi ,am approaching your temple with a garland of tulsi leaves which I have made for You,

Take pity on this devotee of Yours and bless me.

And also enslave me to Your devotees !

Sri Ranganatha!  Please wake up from Your serpent bed and bless us all.

Chatusloki .By Alavandar.Slokas on Mahalakshmi. Meanings in English.

Chatusloki consists of four  Sanskrit slokas dedicated to Mahalakshmi.They were written by Sri Alavandar the Sri Vaishnavaite acharya of 11th century AD. He preceded Sri Ramanujar.

Chatusloki is the very first set of slokas on Mahalakshmi in our tradition.These slokas can be recited by all .Till such time only the Vedic slokas  known as SriSuktum in praise of Sri was prevalent

.Chatusloki  which is in praise of Sri or Lakshmi ,  are concise in form but also explain in great clarity the auspicious qualities of Sri as are found in earlier scriptures.


Thaniyan  are slokas ,that state the meritorious qualities of the author of religious scriptures .They are not part of the main scripture.

The following Thaniyan is a popular Thaniyan on Sri Yamunacharya or Sri Alavandar by Sri Ramunajar.


ஸ்வதயம் இஹ ஸர்வேக்ஷம்  த்ராயந்தர் தம்  சூதர்க்கிரஹம்

ஸ்தோத்திராயமச யோகிந்தர் தம் வந்தே யமுனாஹையம் .


 Swadhayan iha sarveksham trayanthar thum soodhargraham

Stotrayamasa yogindhar thum vande yamunahyam.

                                          Meaning

-Sri Alavandar who is best amongst yogis has understood and enjoyed the deep meanings and philosophies found at the end of three Vedas ,Rig, Yajur and Sama,

Philosophies whose accurate meanings are very difficult to understand.

He not only tasted with relish the deep eternal meanings but also made others develop a taste to relish the essence of Vedas by writing devotional books.

I bow before Yamunachari ,the great man who is full of such meritorious qualities.


Sri Alavandar has written 8 books as per Swami Desikan.They are--


1.Agamaramanyam--.In this book Alavandar refutes the objections raised by all those people envious of the rapid spread of Sri Vaishnavism in10 and 11th cent AD ,They protested against the rituals followed in Sri Rangam temple demanding that they be stopped arguing that since the deity Sri Ranganathar was a gift by Rama to Vibeeshan ,Sri Ranganathar ,the principal deity  of the temple was from North and hence his worship and rituals should be discontinued.                                        Alavanadar successfully established with suitable evidence the sanctity and relevance of following Pancharatra rules in daily rituals conducted in the temple, which are said to be given by Bhagwan himself, to  this  temple.


2. Mahapurusha Nirnayam --In this he establishes that 'Purusha mahantam Vedahamenth' in Purusha Suktam refers to Sriman Narayana by giving suitable replies to objections raised by Saivaites.


3.-Samsitsidhee,--He wrote this in his 16 th year whilst in a debate with Adavaitin scholar Akki aazwar in Chola kings court regarding the interpretation of  slokas in scriptures   and won the debate and therefore a region to rule.


4,5-- The   Atmasidhee and Eeshwara sidhee  refutes the 3 Sidhees of Advaita Philosophy.


6.Geetarth Sangaram---He has given the essence of Gita in just 33 slokas.


7.Stothra ratna--Are slokas in praise of Bhagwan MahaVishnu.They are exquisitely worded and sublime and laid the base for  Sri Desikan to develop and expand  his innumerable slokas  few  centuries later.

8.Chatusloki--4 Slokas in praise of MahaLakshmi . 


Alavandhar is also credited with integrating Sanskrit letters like ksha, saa,sha and haa into Tamil and introduced writing Sanskrit language in Tamil.The source of this inspiration was Malayalam language whose flexibility and integration showed him the way .He studied that language in Trivandram and then introduced the changes in Tamil .

        .Kanthasthe  Purushothama ,pannipadhi saiyasanum vahanum,

        Vedathma vihagesvaro yavanika maya jaganmohini|

        Brahma Esa adhi Sooravrajas sa dhayithas: tvath dhaasa dhaasigana:

       Sreerith yeva sa naama tey Bhagavathi !brumha: katham tvam vayam?



Meaning--


MahaLakshmi ! You are blemishless and full of auspicious qualities like intelligence, strength, wealth,extra ordinary abilities,changeless self and brilliant luminosity.

Purushotama the Bhagwan Sriman Narayana who is superior to all men is Your husband , He is the desire of Your heart.

Adi Seshan who is leader of all hooded serpents  and who is also the leader of all Nityasuris is Your sacred bed as well as Your seat of throne.

Garuda ,the personification of all Vedas and leader of all birds that fly, is Your vehicle as well as Your throne!

The amazing deeds the primieval Prakruti is capabable of doing and which induces all the people of this world to be desirious of contrasts, is within You.

A curtain of  illusion covers the realisation of this eternal being .Those who transcend this illusion will attain Mukthi.

Brahma and Siva along with their consorts and family as well as all  the Devas are your companions.

Sri is Your sacred and auspicious  name and You are full of infinitely good qualities ,

This being the fact ,how is it possible for us mere mortals to worship  and praise You in a befitting manner?

           लोकैकेश्वरि !लोकनाथदयिते !दान्ते  दयां ते  विदन् ||

Meaning-


O MahaLakshmi ,the consort of Narayana ,who is the incomparable leader of all worlds,

Your beloved Narayana's  greatness is immeasurable and is beyond words and hearts.

Narayana has been worshiped since time immemorial and His greatness has been extolled by devotees and Nityasuris and they continue to do so and yet all of them are unable to fathom even a fraction of His greatness .

Devi! You too posses such immeasurable infinite greatness and powers ,which does not cause harm to any one but is beneficial to one and all.

Your maternal instincts of kindness, compassion and lack of hesitation in forgiving instantly the mistakes in all serves to soften Bhagwan Narayana's harsh quality of meting out punishments .


[e.g Sita  asked Rama to forgive Kaksura ,the asura in form of crow ,who had hurt her .She also forbade Hanuman from annihilating Rakshashis who had tortured Her in Her year long internment at Ashokavanam at Lanka .Whilst   Rama the avatar of Sriman Narayana allowed Vanaras to beat Vibeeshan with sticks when he came seeking Rama's refuge and took some time in granting it ,Sita who is avatar of MahaLakshmi. instanly forgave all the Rakshasis who had often threatened to eat her if she didnot aquasise to Ravana's lust, even though they did not seek refuge in her]

 Devi! You are the beloved of the leader of all worlds .Your easy accessibility to all those who have controlled their senses  is owing to Your motherly compassion .

I fearlessly take refuge in You and worship You in the manner in which all true devotees of Bhagwan Narayana can easily approach Him ,owing to His kindness and fondness towards all His devotees.




श्लोक 3.

         ईषत् त्वत्करुणनिरीक्षण सुधा सन्धुक्षणाद रक्ष्यते

         नष्टं प्राक् तदलाभत  : त्रिभुवनं सम्प्रत्यनन्तोदयम् |

         श्रेयो न हयरविन्द लोचनमन :कान्ता प्रसादाद् ऋते

       संसृत्यक्षरवैष्णवाध्वसु  नृणां सम्भाव्यते कर्हिचित् |\

Yeeshadh tvathkaruna niri kshana soodha sandhu kshanaadh rakshayathe

Nashtum prakthalabhathas: tribhuvanum samprath yanun thodayam|

Sreyo na hayaravindha losana mana kaantha prasadath  ruthe'

Samasruthya akshara vaishnavaathsoo nrinum sambhav yathe gharhichith||



Meaning--


Mother of all worlds ! Engulf us in your compassionate blessings which is but a drop  of Your infinitely  nectarine vision , which is seeped with good fortunes and which You have showered on us all now .

Previously as this world was bereft of Your auspicious and kind vision ,famine ,greed ,immorality and falsehood stalked this earth.

But now the world is brimming with auspicious wealth and fortunes owing to Your protection.

Devi! The beloved of the lotus eyed Narayana,if You do not bless a person ,he or she  cannot even imagine gaining and enjoying the various sensual pleasures of this world ,neither can one attain Kaivalyam after ones death nor reach Vaikuntum by attaining Moksham.


Explanations-


Explanation 1.   As per Sri Suktum and Vedas good fortunes means and includes the following--Good spouse, house, children, friends, cereals, wealth,disease free body , absence of enemies, good thoughts, good desires , energy and activity without sloth and laziness , pure speech, healthy cattle, good stature and form, good food and good qualities.


Explanation 2 . As per Vishnu Purana --before this world came under  protection of MahaLakshmi ,it was stalked by famine and ill will  owing to the reign of Moodevi .Moodevi is the elder sister of Sri or MahaLakshmi Thaayar.She came out of the Milky ocean when it was churned by Deva's and Asuras for amruthum.She came out  before MahaLakhmi appeared.She came along with poison  which was drunk by Siva to save this world .In the reign of this Moodevi  world witnessed famine, hunger and dirt.


Explanation 3.Unlike Saktas who worship Lakshmi alone and unlike Saivaites who consider worshipping Lakshmi as futile .,Sri Vaishnavaites relying upon Vedic authorities establish the fact that MahaLakshmi Thaayar enjoys powers which are equal to her consort MahaVishnu.Powers that include the power to create and the power to grant liberation or Moksham.

This capacity and quality of MahaLakshmi Thaayar which is at par with MahaVishnu/Narayana and runs concurrently along with Narayana  is stated in Vedas, Katha Upasnishad and Sri Suktam.



श्लोक 4.  

          शान्तानन्त महाविभूति परमं यद् ब्रह्म रूपं हरे :

          मूर्तं ब्रह्म ततोपि  तत्  प्रियतरं रूपं यद् अत्यदभुतम् |

          यान्यन्यानि यथासुखं विहरतो रूपाणि  सर्वाणि तानि 

         आहु :स्वै: अनुरुपरुप विभवै :गाटोपगूटानि   ते ||   

         
ஸ்லோகம் :4

:ஷாந்தா நந்த  மஹாவிபூதி  பரமம் யத் ப்ரஹ்ம ரூபம் ஹரே

மூர்த்தம் ப்ரஹ்ம ததோபி தத்ப்ரியதரம் ரூபம் யதத்யத்புதம் |

யாந்யந்யாநி  யதாஸுகம் விஹரதோ ரூபாணி ஸர்வாணி  தாநி 

ஆஹுஸ் ஸ்வைரநுரூப ரூப விபவைர் காடோப கூடாநி தே ||    



.Sloka.4:

 Shantha nantha mahavibuthee paramam yath bramha rupam harey    

Moorthum bramha thathopi  thuth priyatharum rupam yadhath yathbhuthum|

Yanyanyaani yathasookum viharatho rupaanni sarvaani thaani

 Aahoos svai anurupa rupa vibhaivar gaatopa gootani te||


Meaning--


The sacred form of Hari is devoid of six waves  such as hunger, thirst, desire, sorrow ,disease and death which all those caught in the ocean of birth ,death and re -birth are subject to.

He is faultless .Neither is He measurable by time , space and material nor is He bound by it.

He is the absolute ruler of the universe and in dweller of all beings both in this world and in Vaikuntam

Nothing is above Brahman , who is full of all kinds of greatness.

His sacred form is beautiful, majestic, gigantic and amazing.

He is eternally blissful  and at all times enjoying His sports.

He also takes several forms in this world like Varaha,Rama avatar and so on, from time to time.

Devi has all the above nature and qualities of Hari .

Since She is inseparable from BhagwanNarayana,She also takes corresponding avatars .                                                                                                                           [Like Sri took avatar of Sita as the spouse of Rama when Narayana  took the avatar of Rama and as Rukmini  as spouse of Krishna when Narayana took the avatar of  Krishna]

 


In conclusion ,Sri or MahaLakshmi Thaayar's power and splendour is equal to that of Narayana.Without her interceding on our behalf Moksha cannot be attained.

Owing to Her motherly qualities of kindness and forgiveness ,Her blessings are available to all. She intercedes on our behalf on one hand and on the other gives us  a chance to reform so that we  may reach His sacred feet ,smoothly.

eg--The crow Kakasura that bit Sita inviting the wrath of Rama , had nowhere to hide from Rama's arrow, fell on  Sita's feet who immediately forgave it and stopped Rama from killing it.

Though Sri is as capable as her consort to destroy enemies ,She refrains from doing so ,like  a truly obedient wife who needs her husband's assent to undertake  any harsh missions.

eg--Though Sita was capable of burning to ashes Ravana , She tells Ravana that She will not do it as She didn't have the permission of Her husband and Her lord to do so.

Deadline.

Was never interested in any religion except of my own .That to ,it was limited to philosophical aspects as i wasnt too much into rituals and day to day practises.
A blow in my life taught me the efficacy of some rituals and even day to day practises ,the emotional and pshycological support they are capable of giving one in dire distress ,with the realisation that several of them were the outcome were the experiences of our forefathers in the distant past.Ancestors who understood the pitfalls life holds having lived through it and coming out of it  and honed to perfection the means to overcome them.
They also understood and acknowledged desires of human beings and laid down rituals,yagas to achieve them .
During my' purdah' that is leading a inhibited life in my own house unlike in my 54 years long life ,after being scared off by auditory attacks and  heckling by every one around me ,long time neighbours and total strangers and stared at too boldly by gas boys, drivers,delivery boys ,and none in the family believing it  or not wanting to believe it owing to utter helplessness  ,coupled with the removal of Mangalyam which was easily achieved by  jamming my head for a month in 2014 and the stick and carrot messages of conversion of both minority communities blown in to my ears and slammed forehead when i was in extreme fatigue with liquids squeezed out of me the whole of a following month ,the nearby temple  used to announce very loudly various advises hourly ,by first starting with Venkateswra suprabatham at 5 am and ending at 11pm .it used to play Kamakshi amman's suprabhatham at 6pm!Total disrespect to Amman /shakthi.Suprabhathum's are played in the morning to wake up the deity .Here it was played at night fall with a innuendo That this amman whose name is Kamakshi was regarded by those playing this song as godess of lust Either it was  a warning    for the gigolish activities or was exulting over such activities .I think it was the latter.
ok .this temple often used to  deride loudly a person ,probably me who had no trust or faith as a atheist.
Yesterday i read an article on Christians philosophy in Bhavans journal .There philosophy is nearly same as ours.That is, senses have to be controlled to reach heaven and this should be accompanied by constant thoughts of god .harbouring him in one's heart.
This is like a combination of Gyana and Bhakthi yoga as is stated in Gita.Both are tough yogas .As per Vaishnavaite acharyas Bhakthi yoga is the toughest of all yogas ,yoga means the method to attain ultimate release and bliss.
Practically speaking is it possible for a ordinary person ,an householder or even extraordinarily  ascetic or saintly persons to constantly think of god and only god at all times?
Then i thought of islam as Allah and some Arabic words  keeps flitting in my  jammed fore head whenever i bend whilst doing house hold chores  specially if i bend westwards .I guess the implant activates rfid when my left ears are turned  towards West.
Don't know their philosophy but know that they have to pray 5 to 6 times a day.probably to reach heaven.Am guessing that this should be accompanied by good thoughts and deeds to reach heaven.

Now this  question arises ,do people of both these communities always think of god?Is it possible in day to day life? so it means that most of them will never go to heaven .The main thing is that they have a deadline .They have to be god fearing and love god in this life time , otherwise only hell awaits them .Maybe this explains the stress on absolute faith .
Hindus also stress faith in gods But we have no such deadlines.Mahabharta ,Ramayna and earlier stories quoted in these epics are full of  accounts of sages who have taken 40 and more births.An example is that of a sage advising Yayathi about mokham  ,the king who wanted eternal youth  and got it who enjoyed life and,saw generations of his descendants  and finally got tired of it,,was himself [the sage] at the point of gaining release after 49 births!
Aazhwar means one who is totally immersed in bhakthi or devotional love for god.Andal is a aazhwar of 9 the cent AD.She had devoted her life from her birth to her passing away at 16 years in total devotion to Bhagwan which ought to have and could have facilitated her attaining Moksham, but she herself in one of her hymns entreats Govinda to allow her to be of service to him in all her succeeding 7 into 7 births thus candidly admitting to her limitations of attaining eternal  bliss in a single birth!

So if we let go of the good oppurtunity  given to us in this birth to strive and attain  Moksham ,[ human birth is considered as being the highest form of birth in the eternal cycle of birth and death and birth],we can try for it in the next or the next and the next  births and so on .

Does this deadline of a single birth also explains the need to convert ?The hurry to do so seen positively from thier angle to make as many people as possible in one's own lifetime and others in thier  lifetimes to attain heaven?
Now why should i leave such a comfortable and flexible religion that gives me so much time . minimum 7 into 7 births which equals 49 births which  equals to 4900 years , for another , that has limited the time to mere 100 years to attain eternal bliss?

Actually those who are bent on converting me [this is directed only against my harrasers ,my middle class neighbours and friends and not to others who are in no way involved in this dirty conversion attempts through no touch sex and brain washing ] should convert them selves to Hinduism and lead a relaxed life without any deadlines .

Since i see only a lot of people from lower strata doing this non stop work with great gusto and determination i assume that they are not averse to the sensual freedoms that women have in thier religion and society  like remarrying after widowhood or talakor enjoying several wives at the same time.They will have to let go off all this and hope for better luck and enjoyment in succeeding births.

It is amazing how despite so many people reading my blogs ,i have 3 lakh and 20,000 profile views not a single person has come forward to show their support to me to help me tide over this rfid enabled conversion  ,even as a comment . i suppose it is the typical mentality of hidus viz indifference and fear of entanglement .I am also of similar mindset Did it bother me when Pandits were chased out of Kashmir with similar threats  ?No .It was just a news.To me then Jand K is somewhere far off and to many Tamilnadu must be somewhere faroff  and my problems a interesting Sunday read But i remember that  my hub was furious and is still furious. Karma has caught with me.                                               
 It is also amazing how my blogging about conversion etc has not deterred those who are at it ,namely Muslim s.Aern't they scared of some sort of reactions or of some backlash from Hindus the majority community that sorrounds them? Were the kashmiris scared of backlash when they drove thousands  of hindus out of thier property? .It seems ,not.Same case here .Indifference of hindus and appeasment policies of politicians is sheilding and emboldening  them to go on unruffled with the nasty dirty activities  that is doubly blessed viz -religious duty +conniavance of authorities.  .
