தேவராஜ்யே ஸ்திதோ தேவீம் துஷ்டா வாப் ஜகராம் தத :||
Simahasana gatha :chakra samprapya thridivam puna:|
Devarajye sthitho devem dushta vaapjakaram thataha:
--In ancient times when Devendran [Indra]was installed on the throne of the kingdom of Devas he recited the following slokas that were in praise of Mahalakshmi.
இந்திரா உவாச --
Indra uvacha --
1** நமாமி சர்வலோகநாம் ஜனனீம் அப்தி ஸம்பவாம் |
ஷ்ரிய முந்நித்ர பத்மாக்ஷீம் விஷ்ணு வக்ஷ :ஸ்தல ஸ்திதாம் ||
Namami sarvalokanamjananeem apdhi sambhavam|
Shriya munnidra padmaksheemVishnu vaksha:sthalasthitham||
Indra said--
I bow with palms joined together to Lakshmi Devi who is residing on the sacred chest of Sri MahaVishnu.
She is the mother of all worlds .
She rose from the milky ocean.
She has eyes that are like fully blossomed lotus.
2**பத்மாலயம் பத்மகராம் பத்மபத்ர நிபேக்ஷணாம் |
வந்தே பத்ம முகீம் தேவீம் பத்மநாபப்ரியாமஹம் ||
Padmalayam padmakaram padma papathra nibhekshanam|
Vande padmamukheem Deveem padmanabhapriyaamaham||
I bow to Sri Devi who is the pleasing consort to Bhagwan,who has a lotus in His navel.
She is seated on a lotus.She holds lotuses in Her hands.
Her sacred countenance and sacred eyes are like the lotus flower.
3**தவம் ஸித்தி ஸ்த்வம் ஸ்வதா ஸ்வாஹா ஸூ தா தவம் லோக பாவநீ |
ஸந்த்யா ராத்ரி :ப்ரபா பூதி :மேதா ஷ்ரத்தா ஸரஸ்வதீ |\
Twam sidhisthvam swadha swaha sudha tvam lokapavani|Sandhya rathri : prabha bhoothi:
Medha shradha Saraswathi||
3**Mother!You purify all the worlds !You are the eight types of prosperity
You are Swaha Devi, Swadha Devi as well as Sandhya Devi!
You are amruthum!
You are day as well as night.You are intelligence, expertise and sincerity.You are Saraswati Devi!
4**யஜ்ஞ வித்யா மஹாவித்யா குஹ்யவித்யா ச ஷோபனே |
| ஆத்ம வித்யா ச தேவி தவம் விமுக்தி பலதாயி நீ ||
Yagnya vidhya ,mahavidya guhyavidya cha shobhane|
Atma vidya cha devi twam vimukthi faladhayini||
Mother!You are the personification of all auspiciousness!
You are karmameemamsai!
You are the skill in persons creating illusions ,
You are the skill in magicians.
You are also the skill in Moksham conferring Vedanta and are capable of granting Moksham
5**ஆந் வீக்ஷிகீ த்ரயீ வார்த்தா தண்ட நீதி ஸ்தத் வமேவ ச |
ஸௌம்யா ஸௌம்யைர் ஜகத்ரூபை :த்வை யைதத் தேவி பூரிதம் ||
Aanvikshiki trayee vaartha danda neethi sthvamev cha|
Sowmya sowmyair jagadhrupai: tavaithath Devi pooritham|\
5 **.O Devi! You are in the debating skills, Vedic knowledge, sculpting skills, medical skills and in rulers Dharma!
You fill the entire world by taking such comfortable as well as uncomfortable forms.
6**காத்வந்யா த்வாம் ருதே தேவி ஸ்ரவ யஜ்ஞ மயம் வபு :|
அத்யாஸ்தே தேவதேவஸ்ய யோகி சிந்த்யம் கதா ப்ருத ||
Kaatvanya tvam ruthe Devi sarva yangya mayam vapu:|
Adhyasthe Devadevasya yogichinthayam gadhabhrutha||
Oh Devi! Who else but You have the right and capacity to be seated on the sacred form of Bhagwan who holds a mace ,who is the Lord of all gods and who has a sacred form like that of a yagna which induces all yogis to meditate upon that sacred form.
7**த்வயா தேவி பரித் யக்தம் ஸகலம் புவன த்ரயம் |
வினஷ் டப்ராய மபவத் த்வயே தாநீம் ஸமேதிதம் ||
Twaya Devi parithyaktham sakalam buvana trayam|
vinashtapraya mabhavath twavye dhaneem samedhitham||
Oh Devi !Without Your blessings all these three worlds appeared to be destroyed .
Now You have blessed them all to gain prosperity and to grow prosperously.
8** தாரா :புத்ரா :ததா கார ஸூஹ்ருத் தாந்யதநாதிகம் |
பவத் யேத்தந் மஹாபாகே நித்யம் த்வத் வீக்ஷணாந் ந்ருணாம் |\
Dhara:putra ;thatha gar suhrooth dhanyadhanadhikam |
Bhavathyethan mahabhage nityam tvad veekshanan nrunaam||
Mother !You are a noble and a great woman!
Owing to Your blessings all are bestowed with wife, children, house , friends and materials at all times.
9**ஷ்ரீரா ரோக்ய மைஷ்வர்யம் அரி பக்ஷ க்ஷய :ஸூகம் |
தேவி த்வத் த்ருஷ்டி த்ருஷ்டா நாம் புருஷானம் ந துர்லபம் |\
Shareera arogyam aishvairyam ari pakshakshaya :sukum|
Devi tvath thrushtith thrushtanam purushanam na dhurlabham|
9** Oh Devi! It is not rare for all those blessed by You to have good health, wealth,victory over enemies and happiness!
10**தவம் மாதா ஸர்வலோகாநாம் தேவதேவோ ஹரி :பிதா |
த்வயை தத் விஷ்ணுநா சாம்ப ஜகத் வயாப்தம் சராசரம் ||
Tvam Matha sarvalokanam DevaDevo Hari :pitha|
Tvaiyathath Vishnuna chambha jagad vayptham characharam ||
Mother! You are the mother of all worlds and Deva Deva Narayana is the father . This entire universe is permeated by both of You!
11** மா ந :கோஷம் ததா கோஷ்டம் மா கருஹம் மா பரிச்சதம் |
மா ஷரீரம் களத்ரஞ த்யஜேதா :ஸர்வபாவநி |\
Ma na:kosham thatha goshtam ma gruham ma parichadham|
Ma shareeram klathranja tyajetha :sarva pavani||
11*Mother ! You are capable of cleansing everything.
You must never depart from this devotee's treasures, cowsheds , houses,materials,body and wives.
12**--மா புத்ரான் மா ஸூஹ்ருத் வர்கான் மா பஷூன் மா விபூஷணம் |
த்யஜேதா மம தேவஸ்ய விஷ்ணோர் வக்ஷ :ஸ்தலாலயே ||
Ma puthran ma suhruthvargan ma pashun ma vibhushanam |
Tyajetha mama:Devasya Vishnor vaksha:sthalaye||
.12**Mother!You are seated on the sacred chest of Sri Vishnu!
Please donot ever depart from my children, friends, cows and jewels.
13** ஸத்யேன ஷவுச சத்யாப்யாம் ததா ஷீலாதிபிர் குணை |
த்யஜ்யந்தே தே நரா :ஸத்ய :சந்தயக்தா ஏ த்வயாமலே |\
Sathyena shavuch satyabyam thatha sheeladhibhir gunai|
Tyajyanthe the' nara sathya santhyaktha ye twayamale
13**Oh Blemishless Devi!Those people abandoned by You will be devoid of good qualities like truth,purity and kindness.
14**த்வயா லோகித :ஸத்யஷ்ஷீலா த்யைஸ் சகலைர் குணை
தனைஷ்வர்யை ஷ்ச யுஜ்யந்தே புருஷா நிர்குணா அபி ||
Dwaya lokitha sathyash sheeladyais sakalair gunai,
Dhanaiaishwaryashcha yujayanthe purusha nirguna api||
14**Even those who have no virtues , on being blessed by You will acquire kindness and other good qualities and all types of wealth!
15**ஸ ஷலாக்கய ஸ குணீ தந்ய :ஸ குலீ நஸ்ஸ புத்திமான் சூ
ஸ ஷூரஸ்ஸ ச விக்ராந்த்யே யம் த்வம் தேவி நிரீ க்ஷஸே |\
Sa shlakya sa kunidhanya :sa kuleenassa bhudhimaan chu
Sa shurasa cha vikrantho yam tvam Devi nireekshase
15**Oh Devi! Anyone receiving Your kind blessings will become praiseworthy .
He will acquire good qualities and punya.
He will be born in a good clan.
He will be intelligent, brave and valorous.
16** ஸத்தியோ வைகுண்ய மாயாந்தி ஷீலாத்யா :ஸகல குணா:| ப்ராங்முகீ ஜகத்தாத்ரீ யஸ்ய த்வம் விஷ்ணு வல்லபே ||
Sathiyo vaigunya mayanthi sheeladhya :sakala gunaa:|
Prangmukhi jagadhathri yasya tvam Vishnu Vallabhe||
16**Oh Mother !Consort of Vishnu.
Those whom You do not bless will lose all their virtues .
Their good qualities will be transformed into evil qualities .
17**ந தே வர்ணயிதும் ஷக்தா குணாந் ஜிஹ்வாபி வேதஸ :
ப்ரஸீத தேவி பத்மாக்ஷி மாஸ்மாம் ஸ்த்யாக்ஷீ :கதாசந |\
Na te varnayithum shaktha gunaan Jihvapi Vedase:|
Praseedha Devi Padmakshi masmaam sthyakshi :kadhasana\|
17**One who has sacred eyes like a lotus! !
Your auspicious qualities are so numerous that even four faced Brahma cannot praise them all !
If that is the fact , how can I praise or worship You in a befitting manner?
Nevertheless kindly bless all Your devotees and protect them ,without departing from them .
18--ஸ்ரீ பராஷர உவாச --
Sri Parashara uvacha--
Sri Parasar said--
ஏவம் ஸ்ரீ :ஸ்ம்ஸ்துதா ஸம்யக் ப்ராஹாத்ருஷ்யா ஸதக்ரதும் |
பஷ்யதாம் ஸர்வதேவாநாம் ஸர்வ பூதஸ்திதா த்விஜ ||
Yevam Sri: samasthutha samyak brahathrushya sathakarthum|
Pashyatham sarvadevanam sarva bhusthasthitha dhivaja||
19--ஸ்ரீரு வாச --
Sriru vacha--
'
Sri said--
பரிதுஷ்டாஸ்மி தேவேஷ ஸ்தோத்ரேணாநேந தே ஹரே |
வரம் வ்ருணீஷ்வ யஸ்த்விஷ்டோ வரதாஹம் தவாகதா |\
Parithushtasmi devesha stothrena nena te' harre|
varam vruneeshva yasthvishto varadhaham dwagatha||
18**and;;;;19-** When Indra praised Mahalakshmi in the above manner , Devi Mahalakshmi who is all prevasive was pleased and She immediately appeared before him and said the following words which all Devis heard--
" O Devendra ! Since You have made me happy by reciting slokas praising MY glories, I have come before you to grant you boons.Ask ME for the boons desired by you "
20--இந்திரா உவாச -- Indira uvacha--Indra said--
வரதா யதி மே தேவீ வரார்ஹோ யதி சாப்யஹம் |
த்ரைலோக்யம் ந த்வயா தயாஜ்யம் ஏஷ மேஸ்து வர :பர :||
Varadha yadhi me Devi vararho yadhi chapyaham|
Trailokyam na twaya thyajayam yesha mesthu vara:para:||
21--ஸ்தோத்ரேண யஸ்த்வதைதேந த்வாம் ஸ்தோஷ்யத்யப்திஸம்பவே |
ஸ த்வயா ந பரித்யாஜ்யோ த்விதீயோஸ்து வரோ மம |\
Sthothtrena yasthvathaithena twaam sthoshyath yapdhisambhave|
Sa twaya na parithyaajyo dhvithee yosthu varo mama||
20 and;;;21** Devendran bowed before Mother with palms joined together and said,
" O Mother , if I am fit to receive boons from Yourself -who is capable of granting boons ,the following are the two boons I seek--
First You must always bless all the worlds at all times without departing from us all,
Secondly "Oh "Mother born from the Milky ocean , You must protect and bless anyone who recites these slokas"
Thus Indra prayed for fulfillment of the above two boons.
ஸ்ரீருவாச --Sriru vacha--Mahalakshmi said--
22**--த்ரைலோக்யம் த்ரித ஷஷ்ரேஷ்டந ஸந்த்ய க்ஷ்யாமி வாஸவ |
தத்தோ வரோ மயாயம் தே ஸ்தோத்ரா ராதந துஷ்டயா ||
Trailokyam tridha shashreshtana santhya kshayami Vasava|
Dhatho varo mayayum te stothra radhana thushtaya ||
23** யஷ்ச ஸாயம் ததா ப்ராத : ஸ்தோத்ரேணா நேந மாநவ :|
மாம் ஸ்தோஷ்யதி ந தஸ்யாஹம் பவிஷ்யாமி ப்ராங்முகீ ||
Yashcha sayam thatha pratha:sthothtrenanena manav :|
mam sthoshyathi na thasyaham bahvishyami prangmukhi.||
22-23 -- Mahalakshmi absorbed the two requests of Indra to Her heart and addressed Surendra in following words---
"Amarendhra as wished by you , I will never depart from the worlds ruled by you .
Moreover anyone who pleases Me by reciting this sloka daily in the morning and in the night, I will never abandon them .I will shower My blessings on them.
ஸ்ரீ பராஷரா உவாச --Sri Parashara vacha --Sri Parasara said--
24--ஏவம் வரம் ததௌ தேவீ தேவராஜாய வை புரா |
மைத்ரேய ஸ்ரீர் மஹாபாகா ஸ்தோத்ரா ராதந தோஷிதா ||
24. Yevam varam dhadhau Devee Devarajaya vai pura |
Maitreya Shreer mahabhagha sthothra radhana thoshitha||
இதி சகல விபூத்யவாப்திஹேது :
Ithi sakala vibhoothya vapyathi hethu:
ஸ்துதிரியமிந்த்ரமுகோத்கதா ஹி லக்ஷ்ம்யா :|
Sthuthiri yamindra mukhothgatha he Lakshmaiya:
அனுதிநமிஹ பட்யதே ந்ருபிர்யை :
Anudhina miha patyathe nrubhiryai :
வஸதி ந தேஷூ கதாசிதப்யலக்ஷ்மீ :||
Vasathi na theshu kadha chidhapyaLakshmi :||
24-25--Thus Lakshmi Devi granted two boons to Indra says sage Parasara.He says that the above slokas were recited by Indra to attain prosperity .
Any one who recites the above slokas daily with devotion will never meet with inauspiciousness.
They will attain all types of prosperity and lead a comfortable life.
